I was just wondering if anybody out there have seen the Tamiya Master Collector Finished Models up close. What is the retail on these pre built and painted kits? They look nice, but are they worth the money? I think that Tamiya is coming out with a M4 Sherman and a M26 Pershing to battle the German armor! They should be sweet but at what cost. Let's see if Dragon follows suit with some 1/35 finished vehicles to go along with the 1/35 CanDo line

IS ANYBODY ON THIS BOARD COLLECTING THIS STUFF OR IS EVERYBODY COLLECTING 1/32 FOV????????

I have seen these and they are nice, but in my honest opinion, WAY over priced.. If you want a 1/35 scale tank, Minichamps tanks are a better value and at less than half the price..

I have each Masterworks model that has been released (even the 1/350th scale battleships) - the models are quite impressive - paint, parts, weathering, detail, etc. are well-done. The MSRPs are a lil' excessive - but, I was able to obtain each for a substantial discount and some of the distributors have been having 'clearances' with substantial markdowns.
Just my $.02 ......

I picked up the first couple of issues. These are nice to look at, but extremely fragile, and I was getting too much display rash to justify the cost. It reminded me why I got into diecast.

COOL!!!!!!! Where is the best place to get these? What is the price range. I see that the retail price is way out of bounds but how about some distributors that have clearance pricing. How close are the 1/35 Minichamps Tanks in detail? Any help will be appreciated!!!Thanks, Bill

I saw one of the German releases, last year, don't remember which one. It really looked good, but the image in my mind was overlaid by the price sticker. It was discounted at a store that I had never seen discount before. But even at the discounted price, it was waaaaaay past what I was willing to pay for it. Anything with that much detail in plastic is going to be very fragile. Been there.
If anyone sees them at $50.00 bucks, I just might go for that, but no more. The Minichamps are good enough for me, and they're much stronger - unless you drop one, of course.

Minichamps are essentially Tamiya in Diecast...REAL DIECAST (not the plastic stuff found in Dragon Armor or the quasi-metallic stuff in the 21st Century and Forces of Valor lines).
I would consider a Tamiya Masterworks piece at $50 or under...but that's it...though, if you checked the going price for superb "Built" 1:35 models on Ebay, you'd be blown away. In fact, a Tiger tank with removable top like the one Harry built (but not as nice as Harry's) recently went for nearly $500. Ordinary pro-built Tamiya models can go anywhere between $75 and $300. HW, could you post a link to the pics of that work of art?

Has anybody bought these Tamiya Finished models for $50.00- $100.00? What do the Minichamps sell for and are they worth it? Where can I find both of these items at good prices??????? Thanks, Bill
