I am having a spell of serious "1/72 envy" right now. I have about twenty 1/72 AC and about forty tanks but nothing like what you have lined up. I was thinking tonight if 21C goes under this may be the future of my hobby. Half the size and twice the price is a poor substitute though.

Two new additions...

^ Corgi Halifax B.Mk.III AA37202 as flown by Cyril Barton VC. I bought this one because I couldn't stand waiting for "Friday the 13th", AA37204. I'm thinking about picking up the Norway (AA37201) and North African (AA37203) in the near future, seeing as they're not in demand at the moment and are affordable. New ones are going to start costing upwards of $150 so I should probably catch up with the old releases

The Halifax mould is one of Corgi's best despite the use of more plastic. I figure that the plastic allows for better detailing. It's weird how the Halifax weighs about as much as the Hobby Master Spitfire XIV in 1:48!

There's a guy in Brampton that fabricates them himself for a decent price - they're not perfect, and they were made for diecast cars. However, 1:72 armour fits in perfectly

He sells them on eBay. Warning though - he builds them to order, so if you order one or more, expect to wait a month or to for the order to be filled. He's quite clear about that in each of his listings.

Brought some more senior members of the collection out to get dusty...

^ the three Corgi Tuskegee Airmen planes - a 302nd FS P-47D in the centre with 100th FS P-51D "Bunnie" on the right (flown by Roscoe Brown) and 310th FS "Creamer's Dream" (flown by Charles White) on the left. I think it makes for an interesting display. Those are the only two P-51Ds by Corgi that I can stand to look at for longer than a few minutes. I managed to polish them up a bit, but the oft-mentioned discoloration has started on "Creamer's Cream" under the engine. I have "Bunnie" by Matchbox but I didn't want to have to tear my closet apart (more) just to get to it.

^ the much-vaunted "RAF in Malta 1940-42" set after a bit of dusting & re-arranging. Why did he re-arrange it, pray tell?

^ he re-arranged it because he wanted to swap the three Swordfish for two RCAF heavies! I haven't had the RCAF Wellington & Lancaster out for some time. I kind of have a love-hate relationship with my first Lancaster because when I originally received it one of the inboard engines was loose. Some hot glue fixed that. However... when I got it out of its box this time, one of the inboard propellers fell off and the pin retreated into the engine compartment! Sigh, hot glue time. I wasn't planning on re-selling it anyways.

Here are some photos of recent additions to my collection.

^ all three shelves have been recently been re-arranged. I found that the Luftwaffe shelf was a bit too cluttered so I put quite a few of the Dragon Bf 109Gs, Fw 190As and Fw 190Ds away and brought out almost all of my Corgi Bf 109Es. I also swapped the first Hobby Master Bf 110G (HA1802) with the most recent "shark-mouth" release (HA1805). With my RAF shelf I put away some of the Gemini releases (the Mustang & the three Spitfires with the green green camo) and re-arranged them so I could put out the Warbirds Bader Spitfire I (looks interesting next to the original AA Bader Spitfire) as well as more Hurricanes.

^ desert Hurricanes - AA32009 (the Legends version w/no air filter), AA32003 and AA30701. They look good together.

^ Hobby Master HA1805 - the fourth Bf 110G release with the shark-mouth and new canopy.

^ Hobby Master HA1803 - the third Bf 110G release with the replacement canopy installed.

^ the newest 1:48 in my collection and my first Franklin Mint - Erich Hartmann's Bf 109G (B11B601). I know the horizontal stabilizer is a wee bit too high. I'm happy with it, though. I don't know if I'll get any more Franklin Mint 109s in the near future - I don't have room for any more gigantic boxes at the moment.

^ my first Century Wings - an F-8E Crusader of the VMFA(AW)-333 "Fightin' Shamrocks"), sitting beside my second Hobby Master A-4E, John McCain's last ride over Vietnam when he was flying for VFA-163 "The Saints" off of the U.S.S. Oriskany. I'm growing fond of both.

^ my first Hobby Master M24 Chaffee (HG3601), "ALLY OOP III". Looks pretty nifty.

More recent additions... all from Merritec.

^ the first Corgi Ju 88, a Ju 88A-10 (AA36701). That makes 3 Ju 88s so far for me with one more pre-ordered.

^ my MiG 21 collection. Front row: Hobby Master HA0105 (Iraqi AF MiG-21MF), HA0128 (PLAAF Chengdu J-7D), HA0104 (Luftwaffe MiG-21MF) and HA0127 (Egyptian AF MiG-21MF). Back row: Corgi Predators PR99404 (NVAF MiG-21PF), PR99416 (Indian AF MiG-21PL) and PR99410 (NVAF MiG-21PFM). The weapons loadout on the Corgis is (as usual) pathetic but thankfully the weapons are interchangeable. Just have to match up the colour of the weapons pylons to the underside of the aircraft... I have HA0125 (Soviet AF MiG-21SMT) and HA0142 (Romanian AF MiG-21MF) on the way as well. I'm still looking for HA0103 (Polish AF MiG-21MF), HA0140 (Czech AF MiG-21MF) and HA0149 (Soviet AF MiG-21SM). I'm a bit of a MiG-21 fan.

Don't I know it! If I do get a glass display case the only planes that'll end up on display inside it will be the most valuable ones... mind you, there are a lot of those, but there isn't a lot of room in the apartment for more cabinets

I dust every week or two... it's not so bad. Gives me a chance to rearrange and rotate the collection. It's like meditation for me.

^ eight Hobby Master/Corgi Predators MiG-21s. Three more (Romanian, Czech and the 2nd Soviet version) to go!

^ my two latest Corgi Spitfires - RAF Spitfire PR IB (AA31928) and RAAF Spitfire VIII (AA31917).

^ the latest Hobby Master Bf 110G on the left (HA1805) and a custom Witty Wings Bf 109G-6 - many thanks to Harry Worthan for a unique Gustav.

^ two Canadian F-104s by Hobby Master - the old "Tiger Meet" release (HA1005) and the new Cold Lake recce bird (HA1011). Thanks to Scott Merrit for both.

^ the first two Halifaxes by Corgi (AA37201 and AA37202) - two gorgeous Mark IIs that I picked up from Merritec. I'm extremely happy with both of them, and I just like everyone else around here, I'm looking forward to getting my fourth Halifax - "Friday the 13th" - later this month (if our luck holds up re: the new Corgi releases). God help Corgi if they got that one wrong. If they screw this one up the only way they'll be able to make it up to me is by releasing "Ruhr Valley Express" after the Berlin Airlift livery.

^ I decided to get good ol' "Phantom of the Ruhr" out to display with the first Halifax II (AA37201). I'm going to swap this Halifax for "Friday the 13th" when it arrives... I don't know if the wife will notice. Probably not.

^ RNLAF 323rd Squadron F-16C "Dirty Diana" by Witty Wings (WTW-72-010-009).

^ my four Dutch aircraft - the Corgi "Flying Diamonds" Meteor, WItty Sea Fury & Spitfire IX, and Witty F-16C "Dirty Diana".

^ one of the new Easy Model AH-64As, the IDF/AF version (EM37027).

^ the lastest Hobby Master MiG-21, an MF Fishbed J of the Romanian Air Force (HA0142).

^ nine Hobby Master MiG-21s on the top shelf, and three IDF/AF aircraft on the second shelf (Easy Model AH-64A, Hobby Master A-4 and Witty F-16C).

^ Don Schmenk's F-100D "Carol Ann/Mary Jane" by Hobby Master (HA2102). Waited a good long while for this one.

^ my 60s/70s collection in its entirety.

^ the gorgeous, recently-released Jack Charles Spitfire IX by Corgi (AA31932).

^ my fourth Hobby Master Airacobra, a P-400 that flew in the Pacific (HA1704).

^ recently re-organized fighter collection... RAF on top, Luftwaffe in the middle and USAAF on the bottom (including P-40s, P-47s and the P-400 that haven't been on display yet). The P-40s look especially cool sitting side-by-side for the first time, all five of them. I had to put some of my 1:32 tanks away for the first time to make room for more planes. Those big tanks take up far too much room. Had to make room for the new Forces of Valor 2 1/2 tonner and Elefant, anyways

^ my newest Dragon tank - an M4 Sherman (DRR60369), another release I've been waiting for forever.

Thanks for posting the pictures, as always! If anything, they give me a chance to see how good some of these pieces look in actuality. I recently got made a few 1:72 aircraft purchases myself. One was a Corgi B-24 and the other was the S1 (silver) version of the Hobbymaster F-100. That was one of the first planes in any scale I had to get, even if a tad expensive for what it is. The reason being that I personally know the pilot of the plane, Col. Harold Comstock

Some updates.

^ three IXO goodies - a Morane-Saulnier MS.406 (PIXJ000012), Bloch MB.152 (PIXJ000023) and Dewoitine D.520 (PIXJ000007).

^ brought my two Corgi Mossies out for some sun - the Mosquito PR.I (AA32814) and Mosquito NF.II (AA32812, the Modelzone special).

^ my three newest Spitfires IXs from three different companies - the latest Corgi (AA31932), the latest Witty Wings (WTW-72-009-014) and the first 1:72 Spitfire IX by Forces of Valor (85550). The last is actually pretty good considering Unimax's problems with mould quality, accuracy and quality control. The engine panels fit perfectly and didn't need to be glued. The weathering isn't as heavy as it is on other "Enthusiast" releases that I've seen photos of, which is a bonus. The wing roundels seem to be inaccurate (it should only be blue & red) but that's easy to overlook. A great - and cheap - release by Forces of Valor if I do say so myself. All three of 'em came in a big box from Scott Merritt last week.

^ Royal Air Force shelf. Lots of Spitfires, Hurricanes and a single Airacobra I.

^ Luftwaffe shelf. Lots of Bf 109Es, Bf 109Fs and a few Bf 109Gs along with a gaggle of Fw 190As, two Bf 110Gs and a single Me 262A.

^ United States Army Air Force shelf. One P-39 and gaggles of P-40s, P-47s, P-51B/Cs and P-51Ds.

That's cool - what does Mr. Comstock think about this Hobby Master release?

Isn't it great how hefty and huge a Corgi B-24 is in 1:72 scale? I can't imagine how obscenely large a Franklin Mint version would be in 1:48. The Hobby Master F-100 has got to be the best mould they've got out so far.

Here's my first update post in a couple of months.

I received a lot over the last month, and I managed to put quite a few new pieces of diecast on display. Most of my new diecast is as always from Merritec... my friendly neighbourhood diecast supplier. He came today, on one of the coldest days that I can remember (and I lived in Southwestern Ontario for a long time, which is a very cold place indeed) to drop off a few huge boxes of the most recent releases. Many kudos and thanks to Scott Merritt for being such a great all-round guy and for being a great diecast retailer.

^ my three Ernst Udet warbirds; the Fokker DR.I and Messerschmitt Bf 109V-14 by Carousel 1, and the new Corgi Albatros D.V.

^ my second & third Hobby Master Spitfire; HA7102 (R. Newbery's XIVc) and HA7104 ('Ginger' Lacy's XIVe).

^ my first Franklin Mint Hurricane, the Hurricane I as flown by Stanford Tuck during the Battle of Britain. I have yet to receive the decals with which I'm going to replace the squadron emblem on the starboard side of the plane. The original water slide decal had crumbled into dust, but that's no bother really.

^ my two Corgi SE.5s (Bishop & Mannock) and two SPAD XIIIs (Biddle & Guynemer).

^ my newly expanded Dutch collection, the most recent additions being the Hobby Master F-104G and AT-16-ND Harvard IIB.

^ my RAF shelf, now including several RCAF and RAAF warbirds.

^ my long-awaited Corgi Sea Hurricane.

^ thanks to the sale at the Flying Mule last month, I was able to get my hands on the 'Eddie' Edwards Spitfire VIII. I'm glad that so many hard-fighting Canadian pilots and aircrew are represented by Corgi's releases. Sitting next to the Corgi Spitfire is my second Dragon Spitfire V.

^ another Corgi Spitfire VIII that I picked up during The Flying Mule's sale last month, as flown by Robert Gibbes. I took the Gibbes Kittyhawk out of storage to sit next to this new Spitfire. The RAAF never looked so good.

^ my second Dragon F-51D. The first one ended up being in rough shape when I received it after buying it off of eBay; I couldn't display it. Thanks to my dear friend in diecast Tri-Motor, I have another one - this one in mint condition. I just have one more Mustang to go and I'll have all of them (outside of the three impossible-to-find ROCAF Mustangs).

^ anyone for a serving of Bomber Command deliciousness? Three Lancasters, two Halifaxes and a lil' old Mosquito.

^ the latest Corgi Lancaster, as flown by Les Knight during the Dambusters Raid.

^ 'Friday the 13th' in all her glory.

^ my only four Vietnam War jets on display at the moment, including my second F-8E, AH200 of VF-162 Hunters.

^ my four WW2 US Army vehicles in 1:32, including the latest M35 "deuce-and-a-half" by Forces of Valor.

^ four WW2 Wehrmacht heavies in 1:32, including the latest - the Elefant. It is the largest 1:32 AFV in my collection.
