About those 1941 Chevy trucks...

After all the recent discussion about the 1941 Army truck (availible with "FREE" NewRay Jeep) both HERE and HERE, and my mention of the truck in several other schemes, I thought I'd let you guys know of a few that I'm watching right now. They can be found, on Ebay, and they tend to go cheap.

1) AJAX, appears to come with the hold down chains for the bed.

2)With stake sides

3)Green, I have one in this scheme. Mine came to me nicley weathered, I don't think that is the norm. I also have one with the stake sides, and it is not weathered. My green one also came with the tie down chains.

They're nice trucks, and a good base for custom projects. If I was more into WWII, I'd have fleets of them, as it is, it gets hard to fit several into modern day. I suppose I could have my forces storm an antique truck show in search of terrorism suspects, but that seems a bit of a stretch. Since noone will get a duece an' a half to market, perhaps these can fill the gap. You can get the army one without the Jeep and get started on a decent convoy, then later add duece an' a half's, especially if they go for the prices I'm hearing about.

Dang it, now I'm thinking about a WWII convoy, all piled high with my FOV barrels and boxes, all the nifty stuff I've gathered... Great. Must stay with one era, must stay with one era, must stay with one era...

I'm really liking all the different ideas for using these trucks. Aside from the convoy uses, you can put just about anything on the back of one, military or civilian. As it turns out, there's one, with a slightly shorter wheelbase, that "lives" in the area of my work. It drives by once a week or so, and always inspires me to do something with one of my smaller ones. Now I just need to stop hanging out on here, and get to work!
