Should I, or shouldn't I, that is the question.

I am really thinking about getting one of the new Hobby Master 32nd scale SBD-2 Dauntless models. I just love those pre war Navy paint schemes. This is an expensive model, and I am wondering if I really want to spend that much money on this model. I have not spent this much money on a model since I bought my Corgi Mosquito which I really like. Can you guys help me decide on the Dauntless. It sure is a great looking model, and I am kind of leaning towards getting one.

B24GUY:

Why not BBI's 1/32 SBD at $40--includes weathering and crewmen.

Yes, the BBI Dauntless will be really nice, I just love the paint scheme on the Hobby Master model.

I love the colorful pre-war schemes on navy aircraft. Go for it and grab BBI's offering later on.

I'd say go for it, if it's not going to really kill you, and it's really the one you want, that's what you should go for.

The BBI SBD will be much cheaper, but I wouldn't count on BBI doing a pre-war scheme, so your best bet is probably going to be HM.

Did someone else ask this....?

You did see my post at viewtopic.php?t=12378 , didn't you...? :D let me briefly expound a little more...with die-cast, like anything else, as you go higher end, you get diminishing returns on your bang for the buck---the HM is not going to be 4 times better than the BBI...but it will be way, way superior to anything BBI will produce at $40, and proper QC on diecast at that price point is generally a given...but don't mull this over for too long, you might find one hard to find as time goes by...they're not making a whole lot of them...

Not my cup of tea but I hope you like it. I would love to see a photo review when you get it though. 8)
