new FOV 1/32 Spitfire

Post by dragon53 » Sat May 10, 2008 2:15 pm

Badcat has FOV's new 1/32 diecast Spitfire. The FOV planes I've seen look like toys, but the new Spitfire looks pretty impressive according to the photos:

It appears to be the same mould for the FOV Spitfire. Note how it has the huge rivets... Still, the paintscheme and weathering look great 8)

I'm curious as how 21st Century's upcoming 1/32 Spitfire will compare to FOV's Spitfire---FOV's weathering is impressive while 21st planes have little, if any, weathering on theirs.

I don't think the lack of weathering will keep the 21st Spit from selling like hotcakes. Besides, it will make for a good canvas for those skilled enough to beat the aircraft up.

Anything will beat FOVs offering. It isn't just the oversized rivets, but the sectioned prop, and way oversized rear mirror that was turned around on the early issues and looked like a spotlight.

Agreed. FOV's Spit is craptastic!

I have one FOV Spitfire I bought because it was the only game in town. Trust me, one of these is all anyone will need. I will be waiting for the 21C version before I buy another. 8)

Likewise. Until 21st announced a Spit, all we had were Unimax and Corgi (Which wasn't really an option for me since I did not have deep pockets). The only gripe I have with the Spitfire IX is the exposed screw holes. The rivets I can live with, but gah!
