OH-NO! They are sucking me in!

Post by Col.Pickle » Wed May 07, 2008 9:37 pm

There has been lot's of talk recently about how well off us 32nd scale guys are and how alot of XD guys are switching over. However I fear the worst, that I might be the 1st to go her way. My Dad recently picked me up some 1/18th stuff (my first) from WM.... And it's amazing! :D The sheer scale and detail that they are able to put on it is far superior to tiny scales. I have been a 32nd scale guy my entire life but my new found interest in this exciting new discovery of mine might just lead me astray to the dark side... Quick 21st or FOV come out with something to make me come back to my senses!

I did 1:18 for a while. I don't regret giving it up for one second. But to each their own! 8)

Yes I must admit I have been very tempted myself each time I walk into target and see the 1/18 FOV WW2 guys. I treat 1/18 scale as a passing fancy, sorta like seeing a pretty face in the mall, you want to instantly jump on it/her.

Well, you know what they say.. "The bigger the toys, the smaller the P*nis" :P

1/18 is dying, don't latch onto the sinking ship as it'll only drag you down into the abyss....

1/32, 1/48 and 1/72 are the way to go. Tons of selection and everything you could ever want.. :D

1/18th scale, this is the end, the end my friend. The ship is sinking fast, get off while you can. :(

No Aferg, I rarely mention the Pen*s, as I know the envy it brings to you 1/18 guys, but that's okay, sooner or later, we'll all be 32x'ers and you won't have to envy anymore.. :D

Nothin but love for ya Aferg....

Yes, that is correct. He had a business conference near the border so he went to some small border town to look around before his meetings started.

People that collect 1:18 either have a great deal of space with which to display their gigantic planes & tanks or they are willing to risk death at the hands of an angry significant other for taking up half of their available living space with the aforementioned gigantic planes & tanks.

I'll stick with what I have room for, thanks :) Don't give in to this insane urge, Colonel Pickle!

Pickle, I started up in 1/18 early last year and it is extremely addictive and expensive. I love the stuff I get and find it more exciting than the 1/32 line now. Unfortunately it is very easy to move from that to Indiana Jones, Star Wars and other toy lines. I am now toy-rich and cash-poor. :?

That is why 1/32 is so dangerous and called the "gateway" drug...A few tokes here and there and before you know it you have an XD needle to your arm. 8)

That's how it was for me... But I'm only a casual XD user... I only have a few... But those Starfighters... and MiGs, and the modern jets... it just feels so good, it gets in you and you're IN the plane... That stuff can kill you, you run around like you're flying it, with it in your hand and you can fall down stairs, run into walls, step on landmines that the communists put in your backyard...

But the 32x is like, a feel good, laughable addiction... Oh look mom, I have a battle going on in the yard!

Or there's an airbattle on the ceiling, and then you lay on the bed staring at it with bloodshot eyes and giggle and make little voices for the pilots... and engine noises... and gun sounds...

:D

I started off 1:18 with planes and 1 tank. I saw the look of my GF at the time and.....the shelf space, after hanging 4 planes around a ceiling fan I realized...now way. I can't be a 1:18 collector without overrunning my home and running off any GF I had or would court.
