HOW'S THIS FOR A LAUGH??

Post by mikeg » Tue Feb 26, 2008 7:24 pm

So, I'm going to apply the tail swastika to my 190F8, easy enough-
I apply my testers "decal set" and put on 2 white swastikas. Next, I add 2 black slightly smaller ones to give it the proper border (the big decal sheet did not come with enough individual ones). As I center the black decal, I notice it coming apart at the edges!!!!!!!! I remove all to start over again and can barely get the first white one off without gently scraping with a razor blace!!!!!!!!!! What the Hell????????

Lemme tell ya, upon further examination, I discovered that the "decal set" that I initially used was actually my bottle of ****THINNER****

Anyway, 21sts paint is pretty durable because at no point did the testers thinner effect it, even with some mild surface scraping.

I will keep these bottles quite seperate of each other.

Where did you get the swastika decal for the tail for your 190? I would like to get some for mine.

The 1/32nd sheet BCA had been selling until very recently with many swastika variations as well as flying tiger roundels and various kill flags-- the whole sheet for around 6.50, Now all is sold separately according to the particular model- at 2.00 to 4.00 each, a far more lucrative deal for BCA. I think if you purchased all on the sheet, it would run around mid to high twenties instead of 6.50!!!!!!!!!

squadron.com has a pretty good 1/32 swastika decal set in sizes from ME-109s to big bomber size which are perfect for 1/18 fighters! You get roughly 30 sets in different sizes and types. I highly recommend checking them out.
