I seem to remember I once had a 1/72 Airfix Avenger with folding wings... never worked right either. Of course that may be because when I built it I was about 12 and rather more than inept.dragon53 wrote:SABREFAN:
I used to own a Monogram 1/48 Hellcat, Dauntless and Avenger. The Avenger was the only one with folding wings---and it ruined the model.

Rowsdower,
I'll hold the stake and you can hammer it through the heart of this 1/48th scale crap. There can't be that many people that like these, they are big time shelf warmers here in S.A. You small scale guys need it in 32nd scale before they make it in 1/48th scale.

I agree but at the same time I feel we must hedge our bets. This is guerilla warfare by 21C. They are praying on my fears that 1/32 will wither and 1/48th is the second coming. What if this is the scale they do the bombers in? What if I miss these releases and can't catch up later? What if these 1/48 releases are the modern day equivalent of 1/18 Spits and Panthers? See what they are doing! Where are Scully and Molder? Help, it's getting dark and the room is spinning. Mommy!KAMIKAZE wrote:Rowsdower,

I hear ya buddy! There are about 15 1:48 P-40s gathering dust just at my neighborhood WM alone! The thing that cheeses me is that I love the P-40, and there is a Aleutian Tiger P-40E in 1:48 but all we get in 1:32 are the crappy old P-40B/C's. And now a Hellcat?? WTH!! Grrrr.KAMIKAZE wrote:Rowsdower,

I would guess that 21C has an outside resource from which they obtain production capacity for all this 1/48 and 1/43 scale stuff. My guess is they don't have the same start up costs and this is a sideline designed to provide much needed profits without the same capital expenditure as the 1/32 and 1/18 stuff they develop in house. All of the 1/144 stuff and 1/43 stuff and 1/48 stuff is probably from existing molds created somewhere else and leased by 21C.
I figure if they make money with this stuff it increases the likelihood of their being in a financial position to then make the 1/32 stuff I really want.
Anyway, personally I am addicted to all of it and have amassed ridiculous collections in all scales...1/144, 1/72, 1/64, 1/50, 1/48, 1/43, 1/35, 1/32, 1/18..... it can be a problem at times....
