My Collection (Lots of photos)

Greetings:

Thought I would share my collection with all of you. There are some planes in storage but this is probably about 80 percent of it. Enjoy!




These World War I aircraft are the Authentic Models aircraft. These are their smaller scale models. They are a Jenny, Fokker D-7, Sopwith Camel.



Another one of their models, this Fokker Triplane is a bit larger. Probably a little bigger than 1/18.



This top row is a Fokker Eindecker, another Fokker D-7 and an old Aurora SE-5a that is in need of restoration, havent gotten there yet.







The whole room is aviation themed, these are old photos from the 80's of an F-16, F-15 and the famous F-4 and SR-71. The other wall is covered in the posters you see.

A lineup of 1/32 birds, the P-47, P-51B and the FW-190F



The bigger 1/32 birds occupy this shelf, the BBI F-4 and my custom Aurora B-25 get space here. The Corsair with its folded wings fits nicely in there too.



This is the German shelf. The ME-262, ME-109, German Macchi 205 and Stuka all have a home here.



My large scale (1/32-1/27ish) scale DC-3 from Authentic Models needs the top of the dresser in this room.



My Dogfight packs stay in their boxes and in storage for safe keeping.



My little but growing 1/144 collection.



These two little Fokkers are handmade from wood. My grandfather and I made these together when I spent a week with him in the summer when I was 10.



This is "Fighter Row", in this shot we see the Macchi 205 and the FW-190D.



The P-40, P-51 and behind the P-51 but not seen is the Macchi 202



The 1/32 Spitfire and Zero.



This handmade Wright Flyer has been in my collection for some time. Always thought it was an interesting piece.



My priceless Curtiss Pusher. This was my grandfather's and he barely flew it. I found the display stand and fuel can and an original box on ebay to go with it.





My two large Authentic Models Curtiss Jenny aircraft. One is in a training style scheme and the other a barnstorming scheme. Love the barnstorming one especially.

Authentic Models large Sopwith Camel shares its space with a Curtiss Pusher made into the earlier version. I found this Cox plane with a broken in half wing and pieced it together to make the earlier version. The wings are also covered in fabric which was covered with glue and paint, really to help hold it together.

The large scale Fokker shares it space with a Ertl DC-3 and a wooden B-17 that my grandfather and I made together.

Thank you for the very positive comments on my collection, I am very overwhelmed by the nice responses. Thank you to all of you who responded.

Many of you commented about the biplanes, they are from the Authentic Models line of products. I found most of them on Ebay. The only drawback to them is they are funny scales but if you like World War I the detail and size make them very impressive. They look way better than foam park flyers but they are more expensive. When I started buying them I made the decision I was buying quality rather than quantity. I'd rather have a few nice models than some that are not so nice. I've always loved World War I as well which is why I am into these airplanes.

The 1/32 birds I get what I can. I usually get one or two of each particular version of the plane, and the different variants. I've been getting the Dogfight sets simply to keep those for collector value as bad as it sounds. I also get planes if they are different schemes (for example-Royal Navy Corsair).

Razor, thanks for the nice comments about the items my grandfather and I made together. We also made a P-40 which I killed as a kid at some point (I remember it being in pieces). We also made a mail truck which I still have. He was very into wood working but lately he hasn't been doing so much of it. I used to spend at least one week in the summer down at his house making a project or just spending time with him and my grandmother. I still make a point to visit him once or twice a week and we still go to several airshows together over the summer. Diabetes and some other health problems certainly haven't slowed him down, if anything he is doing more now than he was a few years ago. I will always value the time I spent with him, the things he taught me and most all thank him for sharing aviation with me like he has.

Olifant, I found the Aurora B-25 on ebay. I found the airplane in pretty rough shape. I posted pictures of my work in progress and the finished product in the custom section. Search the terms "Briefing Time" and you should be able to find it. The plane was a mess when I got it and I had to retrofit several Guillows B-25 parts to get it together. The Aurora B-25 came in a gas powered version and a kit version. Mine is the kit version though it could be converted to gas. They are hard to find on ebay and good versions go for big bucks.
