Based on this thread I went back to my overpriced neighborhood model shop and picked up what I thought was this extrememly rare 1/32 Galland 109. Imagine my surprise when I realized it was just the standrad S1 white 12! Damn...

Oh well, one more to hang up!

Great data base! Now, if there was only a way to post the picture data base to this forum, categorize it for easy reference (P-51D, ME 262, etc.) and make it easy to add new pictures to the data base (to fill in the rare/hard to find versions and new releases).
This would be a great addition to the forum and could be done with 1/32 armor, 1/18 XD AC and 1/18 armor, and different manufacturers. Ferg, TKO, any ideas?

Thanks for the link to that album, but I'm a little confused...I think you have a 1/18 plane in there. They didn't make a 1/32 sky captain P40, did they?

Yeah they were out about a year and a half ago. They didn't last long in my AO, nor did the 1/18 versions.

No series # on the 32x Sky Captain P-40. Same box artwork as the 1/18 version. :)

I know we have an infatuation with the "S" number, but in all reality, many of these didn't have "S" numbers assigned to them so whether a particular plane was "S1" or "S4" is just speculation..

Well.....no, I disagree. The data list I have been updating indicates whether the series number is unknown with a question mark (?). The other, without question marks, have been either confirmed by the box label or by 21st Century. If you read the list you will see that, in all reality, a vast majority of the planes listed have series number attached by the manufacturer.
The series number indicates the design selection progression made by the manufacturer for internal and collector purposes. It's not just made up by a group of speculating collectors.
Infatuation is something I reserve for my wife. Getting the facts right for a data base is what we're are trying to do here.

Aktiger,
I am not saying all the numbers are speculation, but I do know that many of these planes DID NOT have S numbers assigned to them..
And as far as I know, 21st didn't assign them numbers either..

regarding the sky captain 1/32, that one pic still shows a 1/18 version, since it has the cranked pitot tube only available on the bigger model. we still need a pic for the smaller version...

If you all don't have a pic of the 32x Sky Capt. by this weekend I'll dig thru my "plane" room and provide one. It's NIB so that's how it'll be pictured as I don't take them out of the box. If the 1/18 version isn't buried too deep I'll provide that in the pic if you like for comparison.

I don't mean to nitpick (because this thread is very helpful), but it seems we're kind of going about this database a messy way. couldn't we make a sticky up top with the master list that we can edit as the first posting, and then perhaps subdivide the first couple of messages into plane types chronologically? start with the old mold p-51 and 109E, and then go from there. it doesn't matter if later paint schemes came way later (like the me262), just show an evolution of the molds themselves.

I thank everyone for the work, and will contribute as needed, it just would be nice to have it up top like that other thread that seems to have fallen into neglect...

I started to make a Word document that I would upload that would include complete info on every 1:32 aircraft. But I need help, lots of it. If we're going to have a database, we need the info off of the boxes. Anyone who has their boxes is asked to please PM me with the exact info from their 32XW boxes, and make it in the exact format they appear on the box.

I really have been wanting to do this for a long time. I work tomorrow, but I'm off Friday and Saturday and if ya'll will please contribute to this I WILL create a list with details, and I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I will go through with this. It might take a while but if I get the info I need, this can be done neatly.

I've attempted spreadsheet format, and it's too confusing. List is the best way. I will make two lists. One that is shortened with basic info, for a checklist for printing, like this:

Me-109E-4

[ ] S1 - "White 12"

And the lengthened list would be like...

Me-109E-4

S1 - "White 12"
Mutherich
JG 26
and so on... with info.

Pictures will be a bit harder. We need clear pictures with good background. I will start collecting images of 32X aircraft tomorrow before work. Please consider this, as I am serious. This needs to be done and is long overdue. Anyone who wants to colaborate with me, PM me and we'll set something up.

Thanks,

Stephen.

I agree completely. I mentioned something similar in an earlier post regarding pictures. Maybe we should add a room to the Small Scale Headquarters Forum called Product Data Base and break out individual threads for 21stC 1/32 scale P-51D, 1/32 scale ME-262, 1/18 scale Me-109E, etc., etc. Within those threads we could list pictures and information on each release and add threads as new releases come out. With the little information I know about web forum design, it may be the best way to make a data base user friendly. We need TKO or Ferguson in on this.

Well, I think we need to concentrate on pics more, because people have already put together pretty complete lists of the scheme numbers and pilot names, if applicable. there are pics out there, but they just haven't been all put together in a easy to access format...

Okay. Hmmm, how would we do the pics in an easy format? I think it would be nice if we could get all of them on the same color background, like white, for the ones that we don't have pics of.

I'm gonna hit 21st Century's website and scour for pics of planes and download them. Older ones I'll hit WarToyz and BadCat. I'll resize them uniformly to a manageable size, and archive them.

I'm really serious about doing this neatly, I'm sorry but we need to have a real time chat room somewhere, on Yahoo or something like that. Like set a date and time for it, and make this work. I agree that we need TKO and aferg. Their assistance would be great.

I don't mean to seem like I'm trying to take over, but nothing seems to be getting done to make this list. It's been a thing I've wanted to do for awhile, and it needs to be done with as much input as possible.

I still think the only way to do this on this web site so to have them give us a room in this forum and have individual threads for each model (ie., 21stC FW190D). Within the thread we have pics, history, etc., for each release (S-1, S-2, etc.).

A sticky thread that included a master list could be updated when needed by copy and paste.

If we keep the threads to pics and information only, they should be relatively short and easy to research.

The advantage of using this forum is that it can be accessed by all, updated by all and it becomes everyones data base.

It's not perfect, but it gets us there.

it would be up to P-51 to provide space on here. Whether he's willing to or not i don't know.

To be honest, i think the best approach is for someone to step up, like grunt1 did for the 1/18 database, and provide some webspace, take pics and ask for donations of pictures and organize them within that webspace and then simply provide everyone with the link.

By the people, for the people.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...
