Found the Stuka/Macchi set at the South Bend, Indiana Walmart. It's stashed in my work van until I can covertly bring it inside. I think the Macchi is a rerelease. The Stuka had Italian insignia on it with a white cross on the tail.

The WM in Temecula, CA had all of the new playsets as of this morning. Had a couple of the Stuka dogfight sets also.

The WM in Lake Elsinore, CA had a couple of the playsets left as of yesterday.

Funny, I asked a few days ago if someone else could post a picture of this set and now I'm doing it

Here you all go - Enjoy :D

Image

The Stuka replicates a plane flown by Capt. Raul Zucconi from 208a Squadrigli, 101 Gruppo, which was based in Sicily during the Balkans Campaign in 1941

Image

The Macchi 202 represents a plane flown by Capt. Franco Lucchini of the 84a Squadrigli, 101 Gruppo, based in Fuka, Egypt in 1941. The plane had a damaged wing section that was replaced, hence the differing camoflauge pattern on the right wing.

Image

The figures and ordinance that came with both aircraft are the same as with the earlier single-boxed versions.

Not sure why this is a dogfight set. The Stuka and Macchi never fought each other?

It's been a long road, but I am still in the game. :)

Oh, I see, I spoke before I saw the pictures. That is cool to have a dogfight set with both planes being with the same country. Nice set. :D

Thats a must have. Like the fighter with the mixed camo. Have a picture of that plane in a book I have??? that shows that plane and comments on the varying camo. Must have been due to damage and they took a wing off a plane made at a later date.

My TRU has turned back the clocks and remodeled the aisles back to the old school style they got rid of about 7 years ago. I'm talking about a few main aisles running from the front of the store to the back with straight long aisles branching off and shelf space against the wall as well. I'm talking TONS of room here. I was talking to the manager and he was saying that new owners thought the present system with aisles of different length and little "alcoves" was BS, so back to the future we go! I've said this for years!

There is about 70% of one side of an aisle dedicated to FOV, BBI and 21st, with tons of pegs and shelf space with all sorts of goodies to come based on the product stickers on the shelves. They had a decent selection but he said it was only about 20% of what they are going to carry! Lot's of empty space waiting for product that should be incoming soon.

You guys probably already know this but he told me that their truck comes in on Fri-Sat and that Saturday night everything gets stocked. Be there when the doors open on Sunday at 11am and you should see all the new stuff sitting on the shelves.

And that Folgore looks sweet!

The Cary, NC TRU hadn't added any new 21st Century products, but several of the 32X DAK and Italian troops had been purchased as well as one of the four olive drab 32X Fireflys and both 32X Bullfrog P-51s. They still have 3 of the 32X Me-262s, some 1/48 scale PIVs w/the short 75mm, and some of the 1/48 scale Wirbelwinds in a green on panzer yellow scheme.

The Wal-Mart on New Hope Church Road, Raleigh, had one each of the playsets Battle of the Hedgerows (Sherman Bulldozer); Bastogne, Belgium (King Tiger w/Porsche turret); and the one w/the 8" artillery piece. Someone must have just gotten the Operation Cobra Breakout (Sherman Firefly). The Cobra set is the one I'll be looking for.

Well, after considerable whining and angst, I finally found the Schultz 1 (tan) and Gabler 109s at the Kennesaw mtn walmart today- no more complaining for a lil'bit. I believe the tan 109 first showed on west coast in December 06- thats not bad considering a wagon train could go from the east coast to Cali-Oregon in a few months? And the Walmart trucks have a few less rattlesnakes, Injuns, and rivers to ford.

That's actually rather insane they took so long  Usually, it seems that items have no problem going west-east as opposed to the other way around. Those planes have been out of my area for some time, replaced first by the "Winter" Bf-109F and now by the 32x P-51Bs. I'm still waiting to see the 1:18 Russian Migs, the PH P-40s and even the diecast M-48s in my area - and I know those were all in your neck of the woods at some point

Another reason why having 21c back at TRU is much better for the distribution thing...

Yeah, in the north Atlanta area I've seen one remaining PH P-40, 3 or 4 russian migs, and the M-48s have long since dissappeared- I only saw two of those between 7-8 walmarts, though.

Several walmarts in the area have each laid out a box of 2 Gablers, 2 Mutterichs, and 2 Schultz 109s. That appears to be the box arrangement since my desperate hands seem to be the first to sort them apart from the oblivious walmart handlers.
