I'm in love...

I just received my F/A-18 and F-16 from raiderrad and I have fallen in love. What beautiful models! These came just days after I picked up the Hellcat and only a few months after I picked up the BBI and FOV selections from Target.

Until recently I have paid little attention to 1/18 to focus on 1/32 but I think I may be changing my focus.

Question for all of you big scale guys:

What seems to be the time interval between BBI releases? I would love to see more modern AC (A-10, AV-8B etc) and wonder if we can expect anything from BBI in the near future.

What you'd like to see, most if not all of us would like to see also.

I'm pretty new to this hobby, only about 18 months now. They're others who have been involved longer and who's input is very welcome.

To me, it seems like a year or longer for BBI to introduce a new model, not counting repaints. They are listening, however, just look to the Hellcat.

My hope is for Admiral to pull off their announcements. I don't expect 21c to do theirs. I hope for pleasant surprises in the future.

Regards

to be brutally honest.....i'm not sure we'll ever see another modern jet from bbi. I hope i'm wrong but it's been years since the Falcon and Hornet came out.

However, hope springs eternal...and we are supposedly getting an F4 and Mig 21 from 21c in the next few years...

So, not by Christmas then. I really hope Admiral didn't stop bringing us theirs.

We could start a whole new thread about news of the F-4, but here is the last we heard from 21st. This quote was from Mar 07.......
"More details and the expected release date of the 1:18 scale Phantom will continue to come. 21st Century Toys is hard at work on the Phantom, MiG-21 and even some Vietnam era action figures featured from the motion picture Platoon! Collect them all to create the ultimate Vietnam collection." You'd think after 8 months, 21st would be willing to give us a little news on these birds.

I just went through 21c's site and was unable to find any reference (though I'm sure they are there) to the F-4, B-25, or MiG-21, what happened?

Thanks, I don't know how I missed it, but it's certainly common enough for me to do that.

However, it does look like finding a 1/18 F-4 for anything close to 89.99, or any cost for that matter, by Christmas won't happen.

I'm not happy given the hype.

When it comes to 1/18th aircraft from BBI? It seems it took them almost 2 years to release the F6F. I highly doubt we will see any new 1/18th Jets or WW 2 planes this year from any of the big 3. But I could be wrong.

As for 1/18th scale olifant some planes are very nice such as the BBI Corsair and Hellcat. I'm switching to 1/32nd scale because I have simply run out of room for 1/18th but I am waiting for Admirals Dauntless and hopefully BBI re-releases their Hellcat down the road with the markings of Capt David McCampbells Minisi III.

At least there was an actual physical CAD'd prototype that was headed in the right direction. However, it's right to view that anyone might come out on nowhere and produce something we might buy.

You may try to leave the 1:18th scale but in the end you will get sucked right back in to it.

Thanks guys. For some reason up until now 1/32 was my only interest. I am not sure if it is a simple desire to procure new models or if it is the increase in detail in 1/18.

About four years ago I bought a winter-pattern 109E at WM and wasn't really impressed with it. I didn't touch 1/18 again until the German maritime F-104 came out, which I really love. Since then I have been picking up everything in 1/18 I can lay my mitts on.

I have moved all of my 1/32 AC from hanging prominently in my office to a back room; 1/18th has taken their place.

I think I have come to grips with the fact that I am going to collect in 1/18, 1/32 and 1/72.

Gentlemen, if I ever pick up 1/144 I hope someone will put me out of my misery!

Ah, but don't forget 1/43, 1/48 and 1/50.

You will soon feel the pangs of the dreaded "Multi-scale addiction-disorder".

Oh my, we have a name for this: MSAD.

This could be fatal combined with "WDK" (Wife Doesn't Know) that takes place in many of my purchases. Even if not fatal, it can still lead to "GBOHR" (Going Broke Over Historical Replicas).

Which often leads to to a near fatal case of C.R.U.D. ( Collection Reduction Under Duress) :D

But (“W.P.O.A.H.C.T.U.P.H.S”) comes first, then C.R.U.D Takes place.
