3" McFarlane's Military Series 1

Post by Razor17019 » Thu Nov 01, 2007 7:11 pm

Has anyone heard about these yet?

A little shorter than what we are use to, but McFarlane's 6" figures usually come with their own background and items.
These are due out Jan 08

Not until now! They look 8) 8) . Too bad there's no articulation to these figures.

I had heard they were coming sometime next year. Its too bad they weren't just a little bigger but they will work great for diorama displays. Depending on the cost I may pick some up.

they will be nice on there own but no way they will fit in with 1/18 scale figures, unless you use them for some kind of forced perspective view.

Todd hates 1/18 scale.

Why does Tod hate 1:18th scale?
:?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

I remember hearing about these and thinking they would be drool-worthy but frankly they're not. No articulation, old sculpts, old camo jobs, and he's clearly saving desert uniforms for 'reloaded' or whatever. Nothing lost imo..

Mebbe he just likes to work in "inch" sizes - why work to a height of 3.78" when you can work to 3" or 5" (why not 4"?.. that's a bit bigger than 1:18th but not too much for the casual observer) ?

Does anyone still make model cars in 1/24th? That would look about right with these, wouldn't it? (Okay not quite, since the 1/24th cars I saw definitely post-dated WWII by quite a few years!)

Too bad for him... he misses a huge market by insisting on working in scales no one else uses. Most everyone here would buy his stuff if it fit either 1/18 or 1/32. As it is, I, for one, have no interest in investing in another new scale. I kinda doubt I am alone.

The again, maybe he just has so much money he doesnt need ours.

I would just love to see McFarlane offer a series of "diorama and background accessories" and such that could be used for 1/18. I have several of the AVP figures and some other McFarlane pieces, and the detail he puts into the bases and accessories is awesome.

I'll take McFarlane's stuff in ANY scale. I already have a dozen of the modern soldiers. At $10.99 they were a steal, they even put Dusty Trail figures to shame in quality. And now they're finally going to do WWII (I hadn't heard that)! Now I can die in peace......

Yes, 3 3/4 or 1:18 are so obvious for 21C/BBI/GI Joe/SW/FoV compatibility and target market.

Man is stubborn or daft..

something tells me that McFarlane collects gashapons that's why he is introducing those to collectors.

if it turns out good, i'll buy it.
if it turns out bad, forget it.
