--Game--What is your dream 1:18th item?

Post by VMF115 » Sun Oct 28, 2007 7:12 am

Lets be realistic here. and you can only have three items that none of the manufactures have announced plans to make in each post, you may not duplicate your selections, but others may.

The three companies that we are using are 21st century toys, Bbi, Admiral toys, Forces of valor, Pegasus hobbies.

You must list both the pros and the con for each item to be made in 1:18th in the pervious post made by another member.
Then you make your three selections after that.

I will go first.
I would love to see:

First choice P-61B
Seconded choice A-6
Third choice F-8

Hmm...
The P-61 is a very sharp looking plane and also one of my favorites from the era, but I don't know if it would be recognized by the general public as well.

To talk about mainstays of the Vietnam era and beyond, the A-6 is definitely on the list, and even has some good pop-culture references. Downside is that the jury still seems to be out on how well Vietnam era planes will do, since we have yet to see one, and I don't know how it compares size-wise to existing offerings.

The F-8 Crusader? I actually had to look it up to get a real feel for it's historical impact, so there is the con already as far as the general publc goes. It was the last of its kind as a real dogfighter, whicb makes it rather unique.

Technically, one on my list has already been done and shown, at least as a prototype, but none of the manufacturers have the cojones to produce it, apparently.

1st choice: A-10 Warthog
2nd choice: Jagdpanther
3rd choice: Mig-29 (my F-16 and F/A-18 are tired of "exercises")

Decisions , decisions ???

* Although the "Warthog" is an essential modern aircraft , you can forget about it being done in true 1:18 . *

* The Jagdpanther , on the other hand is an essential WWII piece that we all should see , especially in 1:18 , and it really would'nt be all that impossible for 21st.Century to make either. ... Although still important , will probably never get done. * :(

* As far as the MiG , it's cool but ,.. ahh forget that one too ! *

My choices are :

1st.) * Wirbelwind
= 8)

2nd.) * Sdkfz. 7 = 8)

3rd.) * Kettenkrad = 8)

1) V-1 buzz bomb
2) Okha suicide rocket
3) Me-110
Positive B/S/T refs: hworth18, coreyeagle48, raiderad6, pickelhaube, JOC, american_grenadier, xddave, tmanthegreat

On the game you also have to write a pro and con in the selections that the person who post before you.
I call it Ripe apart and praise at the same time. try to be detailed in your assessments. 8)

If you want to keep playing just pick another 3 out of your favorites that you have not listed before
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

Ok to get things back on track thsi is Mg-42 list

1st.) * Wirbelwind is a must have for any 1:18th collector, tooling should be easy. It was used against the infantry and other ground targets effectively, but it did not play any real importance in the war effort, unless 21st releases the Panzer IV as a non R/C model seeing one tooled as a Wirbelwind might prove to be a long wait, best bet would be a R/C version of the Wirbelwind

2nd.) * Sdkfz. 7 it was an important piece of armor that towed the 88flack it is a must have for the next round of armor also seeing that a variant also carried the gun as the Wirbelwind 2 cm Flakvierling 38 L/112.5 did it could use reduce the tooling cost.
But since this is a new tooling, we could be waiting a long time to see one.

3rd.) * Kettenkrad what can I say we need one smale simple to tool,,,the only bad things about it we don’t have one yet

**V-1 buzz bomb** one is comeing out this year by Pegasus hobbies.

So I replaced it with the Ju-88

1) Ju-88
2) Okha suicide rocket
3) Me-110

1. Ju-88- Hmmm.....don't think it will be happening anytime soon if at all. Cool plane, but I think of alot more unproduced planes/jets that need to be looked at over this one.

2. Okha Suicide Rocket.....?????.....that's the problem. Maybe since a V1 is being done, but not as well known in comparison.

3. Me-110- Let's see, its been what, three years or so since we heard a "rumor" of one. Another cool and doable plane, but ???????.

Mine:

1. ******A-10 WARTHOG******

2. Mil Mi-24 Hind

3. F-100 Super Sabre

i dont' like the scheme on the Gee Bee.....i think i'll wait for the classic red and white scheme to come out.

I imagine we'll see a piloted version of the V1 eventually.

Nice to have someone new on board. I'm thinkin' we'll see lots of smaller aircraft from them, like Ohka's, cruise missiles and maybe a Komet.

This has nothing to do with the game..

Always thought this thing looked kinda cool... http://www.williammaloney.com/Aviation/ ... witzer.htm Soviet B4 203mm Howitzer, no chance we will ever see this in XD, but what the heck. This one is at Aberdeen and is obviously in bad shape, what a shame, a great piece of history. Stalin loved BIG guns...this thing actually required a small crane (included) to hoist the shell up to the breech. Pretty neat if you ask me. 8)

My dream top three 1:18 items not announced yet:

1. F-14 A, B, or D. What else would I pick as number 1?
2. Cessna 182 Skylane. My Grandpa's airplane and the one I with which I learned to fly. And just a beautiful classic airplane to boot.
3. Hawker Sea Fury in Royal Australian Air Force livery. Best paint job: the one with the blue wings. Looke fast standing still. Too bad the British couldn't get this plane in service in time. Bet it would have run circles around German fighters.

Man how cool is that! Coincidentally I was torn between the 110 & 88. I do however disagree that other planes should come first, bring on an 88 now! Hopefully Pegasus will produce the Baka. The GeeBee is AWESOME! Hopefully sells good and maybe leads to a series ie. Curtiss racer, Castoldi, etc. :D :D

mmm.....a series of 30's racing planes would be great. Don't forget the Supermarine S4, sire of the Spitfire. :) I must admit the Gee Bee is an unexpected nice surprise. Very refreshing and different.

They do not have plans (Pegasus) to do a simple repaint of the the GeeBee Z as the GeeBee R. That is what I got from my phone conversastion at least. The R model is the classic. But, I am happy to see any of them. So, I am certainly on the list for the Z.

That Gee Bee racer looks kinda cool. An interesting aircraft, it was basically an engine and prop that the pilot strapped himself onto  with just enough wing and tail surface to keep it airborne, the Gee Bee was a handful and quite tricky to fly, very unforgiving, and a lot of pilots got killed in crack ups involving these "flying engines" :?

Fifi--check out the iHobby Expo thread.

As far as my dreams in XD, I am going to pick one from air, land, and sea. Though, the air part was very difficult for me.

Air: Typoon (Falaise Gap)

Land: Kettenkrad (Here, I am much easier to please)

Sea: PBR

Mine would be a P-39 Airacobra. I would like the it to have great engine detail, and opening cockpit doors. That would be to cool.

Just to get back into the spirit of things....
#1 (Typhoon and Airacobra)....Both are unique and special aircraft in their own right....but that also counts against them. The Typhoon did real "grunt" work doing ground support missions as did the Airacobra. Unfortunately, neither had a long service life on the front lines (with the exception of the Airacobra with the Russians). I don't think either will be on the NEXT (New Essencial Xd Toys) list.
#2 (Kettenkrad) This has been a favorite subject for scales ranging from giant (the new DML 1/6th kit is fantastic) to extremely small...but that makes it a little overdone too. I'd love to see on in 1/18th....maybe with a PAK 35/36 in tow (or the comm wire trailer?) but realistically they probably won't put this high on the list either.
#3 (PBR) OK...VERY unique and I think river patrol boats are long overdue. Problem is...waterline or full hull (or maybe a choice)....but the appeal may be very limited too. Imagine trying to clear room to display a PT boat?!?!

And for my choices...
#1...A4 Skyhawk
#2...M1A1/M116 Pack Howitzer and crew
#3...A-20 Havoc bomber
US Army MP Corps combat veteran Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm

How about some modern non-US planes?

MiG-29
Mirage III (Israeli and French markings)
SU-27 or SU-37

The Sukhoi series and the Mirage III would probably never get built....but eh. I can dream.
