Break through! Save space, get way better variety in 1/18

Post by aferguson » Sun Oct 21, 2007 4:08 pm

I stumbled on a fantastic device that will revolutionize our hobby. Imagine being able to have far more variety available, have 4 times as much space to store everything and still be able to gaze upon big beautiful 1/18 models.

What's the device?

Here: http://www.independentliving.com/prodin ... ber=810234

TV glasses, intended for people with poor eyesight to be able to watch tv easier. They magnify everything you look at by a factor of 2....in other words they make everything appear twice as big.

So, all you need do is start collecting 1/32 scale instead of 1/18. We all know the variety is way better and the space savings are obvious. Then, just put on your TV glasses and all the 1/32 items will appear twice their size and will look as though they're 1/18 scale (actually 1/16). WIn-Win.

Wow, and then what will those of us in the dark side (1/6) see?

Boggles the mind. And what will those of us with 1/1 stuff see? Transformers?

Just add a little acid and it will be better than a Japanese monster movie! Anyone see or read the Stephen King short story "Battleground" (from Night Shift, and also done as a made for TV thing on USA or TBS or something like that? Imagine all your XD coming to life and coming after ya!

Come on Andrew, haven't you ever noticed heads turned at a little different angle than you left them? Guns pointing in a slightly different angle? They are waiting. Just waiting. And someday: POW! BANG! CRACK! You're eating 1/18 lead! And you'll never know why... did you forget to dust once too often? Did you pick up one too many new pieces without checking with the team? Did you put a piece into storage before its time? They're waiting. And watching. And they are ready...

Can you tell I'm getting fired up for Halloween :D

I take very good care of my toys and dollies. All my 70 1/6 guys and girls get put in carpeted drawers at night, each on its own very small pillow. When it's cool, each gets a little blanket. They are happy and will take care of me.

It's my 1/18 little dolls I worry about, I just throw them in a box......I don't trust them. They get locked up at night......

I have discussed this with my doctor and he agrees..........1/6 guys will take care of me......BTW...one day in the doctors office, I found a drawer full of 1/6 dolls, each with it's own pillow.......

See, I knew I was right...

Methinks all your 1:18 figs are in need of a short rest & recreation leave. Time for 21c to release a Marg Helgenberger figure in a kimono, China Beach-style, if you know what I mean...

(Oh, boy, that beauty really made an impression on me way back when. )

Those were the days.

In VN, I knew a real Helgenberger, in Vung Tau, which was so similar to "China Beach" as to be twins. MASH unit near the beach which was a R&R location. Absolutely gorgeous location.

The Helgenberger I new was an operator and ran a "house". She was available but much too expensive for this guy. No matter what she looked like, she wasn't worth a weeks "entertainment" allowance while on R&R. Nice to talk to a "round eye" though. I've got some pics around of me with her "girls" but the pics are on slides and I haven't gotten around to going digital with my half a million slides......Ah, the memories....

lol

I am envisioning the part in Toy Story when Buzz shows up and threatens Woody's world.. In this version, the BBI and 21C guys are hanging out, talking trash about the good old days (21C, WWII) vs. the new fancy stuff (BBI/modern) when whamo... In through the door comes a pack of 1:18 FoV Abrams, Bradleys, Tigers and Shermans fully loaded with crew..

Someone says something about removable vs. molded on stowage accessories, someone says something back like "and your mother was a cabbage patch doll" and the sh*t starts flying!
