I have 8 already got them at sale at Wal-Mart. Is the new box worth it to get some more? Is this the new 1/18 scale aircraft that we all were looking forward to? I was kidding about the new paint P-51 in German markings. I would rather of had that than the same ole same ole in a new box. :?

Yeah, I saw the announcement and picture of the box on the 21C website. It's a nice looking box but I was kind of disappointed...I was like yawn and what else????...... By the way the 144 scale Zero and Dauntless look pretty cool.

The box art is nice. I wonder if this is a new trend by 21st that they will offer on other items?

The inside scoop on the BBD is that it was supposed to only be released in the Special Edition box that you see in the new article. There was some confusion and the first portion of the order shipped with the standard green.

21st really didn't want to see the box art go to waste so production was halted and the new boxes were built. It's the same BBD as the one that came out a couple months ago... It's just now the rest of the run is done up in the intended package design.

No matter which box you have the plane is very cool! I thought you guys might like to know the rest of the story.

Well, maybe they should halt production to improve model quality instead of having a cool-looking new box.

I stopped at WM yesterday and they had 6 BBD and 6 Huffs, I asked the manager if I could take a look at a few of the BBD, he gave me the ok and I took a few of them out of the box with out removing the twist’s
I seen no problems with them, the paint quality was great, btw this was the old box..not the new box art. I do think there might have been a few bad apples in the bunch,,,but I don't think all of them where bad.

I have the BBD Mustang and the paint job is awesome. It really stands out from my other P-51s. Sweet Mustang! :D

As did the 1:1 BBD in a formation of 20 P-51's! :o

Here's some more on some other fighters with the same group markings.

Quite impressive history.

Problem with bad apples is that: (1) they cost an awful lot of money in shipping costs (especially, if you happen to live across the pond) and (2) they end up spoiling the basket (meaning I’d gladly switch to BBI if their catalogue wasn’t so limited; in fact that's what I have done as far as the P-51 is concerned). So instead of buying yet another BBD (and see if I'm lucky enough to get some decent paint job this time around), what I've done is switch to BBI and buy their planes, which I find to be more reliable, quality-wise.

A real shame, 'cause I love the BBD scheme. Must be one of the best looking Mustangs out there, but the 21st paint job is plain BS.

Keep up the "good" work, 21st!
