Quick question...
Has and how have folks renumbered or relettered your tanks without having to repaint them ??? I'd like to renumber my tanks, but don't want to repaint them. What works well at removing the numbers without removing the paint ??? Also, where is a good place to find the correct numbers both color and font for the German Tigers, Panthers and Panzers of all the made paint schemes in the 1:18th scale ??? Thanks, General Blasto

hello General,
don't know how you can renumbering your tanks without repainting them but if you need decals then John's Stuff is the answer

In short as the numbers are added in a process simular to painting, basically anything that will remove the numbers will also remove the paint underneath.
You could do what another board member did and just paint out the old numbers with a simular primary paint colour and then put the new over the top, a very common pratice in real life by the way.
I would also plug the John Stuff numbers, but then again I have a vested intrest in doing so

The only tank I've renumbered without a complete repaint was one of my Panthers. As it was, I still had to paint a block of color to cover the original numbers. It turned out pretty decent I think. If you want a better blending of the background, the best I can suggest is to try and match the colors and cover the old number that way. As you can see, the green I used was awfully dang close. I probably could have matched the tan pretty closely as well if I had been a little less lazy.
I used John's Stuff decals.

As you can see from the starboard side this was my pre-scissors phase of decal trimming. Got a little too close on the 3 with my X-acto.

you could paint numbers by hand. A lot of german tanks were done this way in the field with out the use of stencils.
