Does anyone know if the Bunker Hill Avenger, as painted by 21c, participated in the attack on the Yamato in April 1945?
From Ski's webpage, the markings are for Feb. '45 (the attack on the Yamato was in April '45) and i know the Bunker Hill's aircraft participated in the attack on the Yamato but i'm wondering if the Bunker Hill's Avengers had been repainted in overall dark blue by then.
The only picture i've seen from the attack on the Yamato is a painting and the Avengers in it are overall dark blue (they are from another carrier however, not from the Bunker Hill). If anyone knows a bit about the history around then and when the Bunker Hill switched over to the dark blue overall camo on their carrier planes i'd appreciate the feedback.

Btw, during my research i saw a lot of talk about the Trumpeter 1/32 kit, which is supposed to be quite good. The kit retails for around $100, is half the size of the XD version AND you have to build it.
Just a reminder of what a bargain these planes are.

My Bunker Hill Avenger arrived today. Very nice looking model. Anyone know if the national insignia on the left side of the fuselage is supposed to be crooked? It comes that way on all the bunker hill avengers, so it's not like i got a bad sample. I've found pictures of a/c 307 and 301 from the same squadron and their national insignia are straight. Anyone have a picture of a/c 302, to see if the national insignia is angled, like on the 21c model?
Anyway, other than that, it looks great. BTW, i got it from 'the world war II attic', which is operated by board member DrMindbender. He's located in Canada, so fellow Canadians might want to check him out. Good prices (better than BCT's in many cases), reasonable shipping, quick service etc. Selection is a bit limited, but hopefully over time it will increase.
Now i need to get to work on a 1/18 Yamato...
