Metal landing wheel struts question..

With all the production delays we have had on, you know, those things with wings......, due to landing gear problems.....has anyone suggested that 21C or AT use metal struts on the bigger, you know, those dings.?
In the dark side, 1/6 scale, major manufacturers have mixed plastic and metal parts for quite a few years.
Just thought I'd throw out the idea, no charge,...... if nobody thinks it's feasible, throw it back...

I think it would be a good idea, feasability I guess will have to be left to the manufacturer. I've toyed with metal telescoping struts but I have not done a full retrofit yet.

Even Corgi 1:72 planes have landing gear made of metal

It is completely feasable and will probably have to be a must for some of the "biggies" like the F-4 and B-25. The bending landing gear on some of the large BBI aircraft, as well as the plastic fatigue that occurs on some of the 21c aircraft (think the P-38) should be evidence that heavier planes need better support.
Landing gear ?

I'd have to agree that metal landing gear , would be a superior , stable platform.

I think telescoping metal landing gear should be a standard on all 1:18 scale aircraft…they could even add a small spring inside the telescope to give the landing gear the look of real compression while it's on the ground. Ie f-18,p-47,f-16 ect.
Note to the manufactures:
Please add something to TTT's and my tip jar.

as always it is a extra cost to produce, and then price goes up.
How easy is it to take the wing apart to retro fix any custom made gear?
I've been real tempted to take my S1 me 109 apart to modify the gear but too many other projects going on that create income for me gets in the way...
Hobby shop has those brass tubings of all sizes, that would be perfect to cut and braze together.
Maybe that could be a project for one of the advance builders here

I agree, I can see it costing the manufacturers more. But honestly, I'd pay for it on some of the big birds. The sagging struts are just no fun.

......... but this factor will still be a cost & manufacturing issue w/ any of the Big 3 .
I doubt it will ever happen.
