SAHARA Movie tie-ins?

Post by Morian Miner » Wed Jan 26, 2005 12:05 pm

Didn't we see from one of the toy fairs 21C showing off toys from this movie? I just saw on AICN someone just reviewed it, so it must be coming out soon. I think there was a jeep, etc. Will these be surprises showing up at Walmarts and TRUs soon?

Also, any idea when we'll be seeing the Sky Captain P40? I mean, 21C usually keeps everyone well informed on their release dates

as i recall there were a bunch of figures, jeep, m-48 patton and something else coming out. I have a feeling this movie's going to bomb so the movie may come and go before 21c has a chance to get the toys out.

Odd though, usually toy lines preceed movies. Well, as long as i can get one of the jeeps....i plan to convert it to an SAS one..

I think these two guys are great. They can be your SAS in North Africa, or your Special Forces looking for Bin Laden....very cool possibilities.

Sahara! Dirk Pitt

Post by Razor17019 » Thu Jan 27, 2005 6:17 am

This "Sahara" movie ties into the Dirk Pitt adventure book by Clive Cussler!
Not the Bogart WWII movie.
"Sahara" was a GREAT book! Cussler's most famous book "Raise the Titantic" was made into a lackluster movie in 1980-81.
Hopefully this will be a better movie.

Just to offer a point of clarification...

Those pictures on Figures.com are from the Fall Mass Market Toy Show held, I believe, last October.

The 2005 American International Toy Fair is held February 20-23.

Hopefully there'll be some solid info from 21C there on Sahara and other lines.

(which reminds me, I need to schedule my appt. with 21C today. I've already got my appts with bbi and Dusty Trail...)

Decided to write 21C about this. Here's what I got back.

"we will be coming out with 1:18 figures and 1:18 Huey helicopter and 1:18 Patton Tank and also 1:6 action figures and a 1:6 Jeep. Tune into our website within the next 6 weeks to find out about the release of our Sahara products. Our website is www.21stcenturytoys.com ."

The movie comes out April 6, so some of the reviews are way-early sneak previews. Went to the movie website (www.saharamovie.com). Maybe we'll see some African militia figures. My techincals are awfully undermanned.
