Sorry if this is not a first sighting. It appears to be the (new?) PTE A-10 packaged as Elite Operations for TRU. Looks great btw, even if this is old. Nice selection of ordinance. First time I've seen one anyway.. :D

it was discussed some time ago and a picture of it was shown but this is the first sighting of it in a store. I believe it's exclusive to TRU, but not 100% sure abouty that. Works out to be about 1/25 scale or so..

Did you buy it?

No I didn't pick one up, but am passing the same location tomorrow and will for sure. Wasn't sure it was new until now.

It's not to scale as mentioned in the preview, but it's big as can tell from it's neighbors.

Oh and I realized now after looking at the picture that it's the same as the PTE one because it has the ground crew figure. :D

This is the same A-10 that Marauder John was going to sell in a blue mold as an exclusive to his weapons line. He was going to get a limited quantity produced in the blue mold similar to the Cobra Rattler of the '80s. I think delays in production kept Marauder John's exclusive from happening though.

It's Joe scale though, which is ashame. Wish it was to scale. Other than that, it's a good looking model. Hopefully one day we'll get a true 1/18 scale A-10.

Price is $19.99 I think (?) despite what the shelf says.

::edit:: Price is actually $29.99 ::edit:: and the PTE boxed World Peacekeepers version is also $29.99 at Big Lots.

Doesn't the PTE version have electronic features, lights and sound?

Over on Joecustoms, someone posted a comparison picture between the old GI Joe A-10 wannabe and the PTE one. I'm actually surprised how much larger it is. Might have to swing by TRU and look at these.

the PTE A-10 is probably about the same size as the XD Stuka and somewhat smaller than the Avenger.

heres a link for those comparison pics. http://www.joecustoms.com/forums/viewto ... f=10&t=858

Its more in scale than what the Rattler was by the posted pics. Just a little smaller than what true 1:18th would be though.

Skystriker is about a 1/32 scale F-14 look alike, so from those pics the guesses of the PTE being between 1/25-1/28 seem pretty correct.

We'll know once someone posts actual dimensions.

Still, for $25, it's pretty nice and the lines look good.....an oversized canopy is the most obvious 'flaw'.

for Blaster_e11 "i love PTE too bad they don't sell their stuff in france" from joeCustoms board

Ok I did not spot this A10 yet, but you can buy "Elite Operation" in French TRU. Be sure I will tell you if I find it.

Thank you grunt1 for this great info.

So this is the closest thing it's going to get to a 1:18 a-10?

Seems so at this point, but I wouldn't give up hope or asking that one day one of the big three will do a true to scale 1/18 A-10 Warthog. It's a popular aircraft.

This is a beautiful attempt to provide one, but that's just it to me, an attempt. It still falls short in size and other areas. The landing gear on this one, if memory serves me correct from the one displayed at Joe Con last year, makes it sit the same height if not shorter than figures. Plus the landing gear are cheap looking compared to the rest of the aircraft.

No matter how you try, there's no way it will cut it next to the F-16 and F-18. Hanging it might be a good way to make an "illusion", but nothing would beat being able to display a true 1/18 scale A-10 on the ground with figures or next to your other 1/18 aircraft on the ground or in a formation flight.

Still hoping and waiting to see something even better in the A-10 department.... :D

Here's an old link to a forum thread with a picture of the PTE A-10 (actually the blue version that Marauder John was going to sell) on its landing gear.

http://forums.toynewsi.com/index.php?s= ... ry16187445

Here are better pictures next to a figure and a little better shot of the landing gear:

http://www.joebattlelines.com/images/jo ... 03_jpg.htm

Putting a figure in or next to it shows how "undersized" it is.
