Small Scale Military Headquarters

Well, I pushed the no-fly zone at bit into my wife's half of our split (wo)man cave. I now have 11 of my planes hanging and 2 on the ground. Here is an updated shot:

I didn't think I was going to like the bubbletop P-47, but with everything hung and putting the oxygen mask on the pilot from another figure, it rocks!! Now I have a single space on my printer for another plane. That will have to be for an Avenger with wings folded.

The light coming in the window is from all of the snow we got here in Delaware. Now I gotta take my daughter out to go sledding.......

Nice air show you've got going! With all the other nice looking birds you have in the sky, how can you keep the Avenger grounded when it arrives?

Great pic.. I am lucky I have my "liitle corner" in our bedroom... I don't think my wife would go for hanging planes above our bed........

You're quite lucky! At my home (awaw from school) I used to have a very similar display, until my father took off the "cottage cheese" and replastered the ceiling. There were a number of holes, and my parents were somewhat irritated, so now I only have four planes hung, with two on a display table, and the rest stored in a cupboard or in the attic.

At school it could be a different story - I got lucky and have my own room this quarter with a big, empty ceiling that could hold all the aircraft and then some! But alas, I'll probably move out in 8 weeks or so and I would have to haul all the planes over the 200 mile drive from Fresno to LA!

Sorry for the pointless rant, but Ski and others with similar rooms - consider yourselves lucky!

i think it a wise decision not to hang any of your xd planes in your dorm at school....

Nice room, I like to see the planes flying.

Currently, I have 22 planes in flight in this room here. Another 4 are awaiting me to hang them including a P-38. Space is getting crowded in here. I have a 4 plane Corsair formation in one corner, a 'P-47 Bank Motion' formation... where there are 5 P-47s (including a bubbletop) that go from level flight to a full 45 degree bank. There's also the Luftwaffe corner where 2 Stukas, 2 ME-109 E-4s, and a FW-109 are all in a formation that would be impossible. All aircraft in the room are technically converging on the very center, so if it was real... they'd ALL collide

Out here in earthquake country I'd be a bit uncomfortable with placing my F-18 on top of my computer monitor as you have. At least not unless that beast was tied down.

I agree. The good thing about all these aircraft hanging is that I have the BEST earthquake alarm I just look up.

When at home in Fresno, I await the moment when my BBI F-16 (by far the largest plane I've ever hung) comes crashing down on my head while I'm asleep Sure its attached securely, and with 20lb test line at that, but one never knows...

After reading this thread I decided to finally put a few more planes. While figuring out where to put a new P47, I decided to move a few planes. Wouldn't you know it I dropped my new Huckle De Buck. I figure it fell about 7 or 8 feet and had its fall broken by a tank on the concrete ground. Surprisingly only the radio ant, mirror, 1 rocket and part of the drop tank holder broke off. The stabilizers flew off in different directions and it got scratched up a bit. A little super glue and its already up in its new spot. These are tough planes.

Sorry to hear of your Class A mishap. I have had a blessed existance so far.

I won't go into great detail, but my origional Kepford Corsair had a terrible mishap - breaking a prop, shattering the cowling, and ripping off a wing - as it glanced a file cabinet on the way down. Wouldn't you know, a little superglue went a long way and save for a small crack on the repaired cowling, the plane is back to normal!

just like my experience with the bbi apache a year ago. Fell 6 feet onto it's back and aside from a few things coming loose and having to be snapped back on it didn't sustain any damage. It's a pretty heavy bird too.

Where's the traffic control tower?

If I had one in my room, at the rate of which all the aircraft are going and which direction they are all headed, I'm sure the control tower guy would just sit back and say 'forget this.'

As always Teamski very impressive! I have alot of catching up to do thats for sure buddy. This week I'm going to order my "Snortin Bull" 47' and put it alongside "Killer" on my shelf. My Kepford Corsair is hanging safely in flight and I have no intentions of parking it. More Corsairs to come along with the much anticipated Avenger.

I love it all ski. One day I will have a massive indoor room for it all. I stopped hanging them in the man cave of the garage because of dust issues. So, I currently have my own Davis-Monmath AFB diorama set up on what should be a work bench for refinishing furniture.
