Question for 1/16th or 1/15th scale model builders?
I was wondering if there is a M3 halftrack, M3 scout car, or anything around that size of US truck in these scale? I haven't been able to find anything. Looking for one for a project. Thanks for looking and any help.

Highway 66 makes a 1/16 truck that has been mentioned several times on this board. It's a chevy. I was going to use it at one time to make an LRDG Chevy truck but decided it was too big.
The LRDG chevy is not a very large truck....probably about the same size as a halftrack. Maybe you could use its chassis as the basis for your truck project?
They are a bit expensive but you may be able to snag one on Ebay in the $50-$60 range..

The Highway 66 truck wheels are very close to the CCKW wheels.
The overall size of the truck is about right for a 2 1/2 ton CCKW. The cab is a little oversized to be CCKW, but shape is very close if you wanted a closed cab CCKW. Only problem is the second set of rear wheels. Could be expensive, getting two of these trucks for the wheels.
I have the Highway 66 1/16 Chevy and the Ford (model year is post war for the Ford but the body didn't change on Ford 1 1/2 trucks from 1941 through 1945.
Very nice trucks and they do make a Military stake body (Navy).
Sure would like to have a cargo truck in 1/18. Yea, I know someday for the 21c Dodge WC-63. I'm not holding my breath.
Good luck with your project.

I realy like the devotion that those guys have to their club!!!

I wish there was something like that close to my home area.
Any word on how to get those 1/16 tanks?
how expensive & how hard to plug and play?
keep me posted..
BTW, what about the motors work 1/18 scale RC M1A1 Abrams and the MLRS vehicles?...they seem smaller than scale any word on those?..

My son uses an outfit called "Tower Hobbies" for his R/C stuff and in their catalog is a load of 1/16 tanks from different mfg'ers.
Prices are high compared to our toys (from $400 up) but the selection is very interesting, tanks we would love to have in 1/18.......M-26, T-34, King Tiger (with both popular turrets), many more.
Different strokes for different folks.

75th,thanks for the compliment about our club, have a look at www.rcacn.com,there might be one near you,if not, where do you live,I might know of a group forming up near you,new clubs are starting up regularly.
Cheapest sources of tanks I know of are www.backyardarmor.com and
http://www.stellamodels.net/catalog/def ... ath=76_113
My interest in XD is to accessorise the battlefields we set up for the 1/16th scale rc tanks,ie,stuff we can't get in 1/16th scale.
I tell you ,its a whole lot of fun participating in rc tank battles with the Tamiya Battle System, when hit,you hear an explosion, the tank recoils from the hit,you lose speed and the engine noise changes to a 'damaged' sound,on the final 'kill' shot you get a big explosion noise, then the tank shuts down, your dead! A lot of skill is involved in being a successful battler.
You get a zillion bits with the kitset, they are a lot of fun to build and fairly
straightforward if you follow the instructions. Once built, maintenace depends on the terrain you drive on and the manner in which you operate it.
All the best from NZ

There is a fast growing club in Jacksonville Florida called
ETO-AG ,they battle every couple of weeks as well as send a team to the quarterly indoor battles at Danville VA .
the club does not have a website yet but the club commander also runs this rc tank parts business
http://www.etoarmor.com/ you can contact Bob via the site.
We always take everything we own in 1/16-1/18 ww2 to make our battle area look good, including infantry.I drill a hole in the infantry bases and insert a nail to keep them standing on uneven ground. For a hobbyist, what better than taking all your stuff along and setting up a huge diorama ,then playing tank wars amongst it.I know Bob will give you some stick time
if you can catch up with them.
There is also a club based at Camp Maybry http://www.texasarmor.com/
Hope this helps.

I have the 1/16th Abrams,as far as rc tanking is concerned, its in the toy
category. Its,non proportional which means its either off or flat out;no in between speed control,it has an unrealistic sprocket with rubber tracks that fall off, also the frequency is broad band which makes it unsuitable for a club event when multiple narrow band frequencies are used.It cannot be combat equipped/upgraded without great additional expense such as new gearboxes and the metal track/sprocket upgrade that elite armor offer. The suspension does not function either and the upgrade for this is no longer available.
A Tamiya full option tank, upgradable to combat with the Tamiya Battle system,Sherman,Pershing,Tiger 1 or KT is the way to go with the Sherman or Tiger 1 being the best for beginners as they have the least problems/maintenance to keep them going. They have proportionalspeed control.turret turning, elevation and the full range of engine and other sound effects ,a bright muzzle flash, some have lights
and cannon recoil effect.
Tamiya might bring out an M1A1 next and there is a Leo as well.

You can contact me at bob@etoarmor.com We have a large club in Jax, 12 members and growing. We have about 30 tanks or so, including some scratch builds. As for your first tank, for US I would recommend the Sherman, inexpensive, fast, and reliable. For German, the King Tiger, with a little work, is tops, although some of the lads argue the Tiger I is a better fighter. You will need to get a radio, 3000 series batteries, and a Battle System, all of which we can help you with. I also run ETO Armor, a supply house where I sell just above cost to help the tankers. I have everything in stock by Wecohe and Schumo, and most of Daryl's Parts. We in the club can help make you bullet proof for running. We meet almost every Sunday AM, and most Wednesdays PM. We can help you avoid the costly mistakes some newbies make. email me, I am home today and tomorrow.

Landing Craft
Tankduel, not to change the subject but do you have any intel on the landing craft seen in the pics. I can't tell is it 1/32nd or larger? I'd like one in 1/18th
By the way those tanks look great!

We get lots of enquiries about the LCT which Gavin built. We are having a club meet today,if he brings it I will shoot some more pics.It is entirely
scratchbuilt in 1/16th scale. It can carry the heavy 1/16th Tamiya Sherman
on the water, beach, then the drawbridge lowers so the tank can drive off.
It has engine noises,lights,bilge pump(for effect),its amazing.
The guy who built it also built a 1/16th fast patrol boat
http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~brett/Imag ... %20013.jpg
I saw a company in the UK selling 1/16th RCLanding crafts a while back.
