Small Scale Military Headquarters

Any of you guys ever give any of your 1/18th scale planes away. When I first started running out of room, I gave a winter Stuka to a good friend of mine. He hung it up in his sons room and he loves it. It is nice to share our hobby sometimes. I have even been lucky enough to have a couple of models given to me. I really do enjoy this hobby.

To make room thats what I'm about to do. My Ira Kepford Corsair is going along with my P-51 Ridge Runner as well. I need to make room for the F6F. But ya I have givin planes away to freinds and family. They have enjoyed them as much as I do and that is great. Like you I to love this hobby of ours and hope it never goes away.

I gave my nephew my only 1/32 scale tank so he can take parts off of it to finish his pinewood derby car. He made a Sherman tank for the races.

I've never given any of my 1/18 scale planes to anyone yet. (Other than what's hanging in my daughter's room.) She's "borrowing" them.

I've made some scratch built items in 1/18 and have given them away.

I gave my parents a Tiger Meet F-104 to hang in their cottage in northern Ontario (somehow, just seemed fittnig), and I gave my CEO an extra Huff after watching him drool over my collection for the past couple years

I've "donated" 3 of my planes to my dad to display in his office at the FAA District HQ for central California, which he does proudly. They caused quite a stir when he brought the first one in, as the office is filled with aviation enthusiasts that had no idea 21c existed.

I have, however, considered donating one or two of my pieces to my town's local Legion of Valor war museum. They've already got several XD aircraft and armor pieces on display and I'm sure the old vets wouldn't mind more

I gave some 32x planes to one of the kids of a lady I teach with. The little 4 year old beamed from ear to ear with a P-40 and a 262.

I gave a couple to my brother so he could see what hobby I was hooked on.

And destroyed them within 20 minutes!

Back in 1976, when my family moved from St. Louis to NW Arkansas, I gave away my entire GI Joe collection to a kid down the street. His parents were divorced and he didn't have ANYTHING in the way of toys. I was 12 and had decided that I was too old to play with toys anymore.

Never regretted it.

In fact, the memory of that decision was part of what got me back into the hobby.

Trust me, I've given a lot away!!!

I give my 6 year old brother some 1/32 stuff that i use to customize and now he is into collecting 1/32. And of course my uncle gives him stuff too

Whenever I can purchase two of the same plane, I put one aside for Christmas. For the last four Christmas's I have donated at least 10-12 planes and miscellaneous vehicles to the Salvation Army here in Bellingham. They collect toys for families who cannot afford them for their children. The families are allowed to shop and pick up toys for their children. For me, its a way of giving back for all that I received in my life. Just to know that some kid has a smile on their face at Christmas, is worth the cost of the extra 1:18 planes and vehicles. By the way, I was able to get some of those $10.00 TRU Mustangs for this years Christmas donations to the Salvation Army.

Yep - I've given 1/18 and 1/32 stuff to friends and kids of friends. 2 of them got hooked and are into now as much as me.

I also give 1:18 stuff to the Salvation Army. At some point I have more vehicles than I could ever use or display, so I figure its time for someone else to enjoy them! So I just end up keeping my truly favorite pieces and then giving away the others. Hopefully it brightens somebody's day to be able to buy it there cheap when they couldn't have afforded it otherwise.

I recently gave my next door neighbors son in law a Cobra helicopter while on leave from Iraq. He is a Blackhawk pilot and said he would hang it where his unit can appreciate it.

I gave my newphew a 1/6 scale Stuart for Christmas does that count? He ripped a track off in about 10 minets running it down the side of the drive way. Messed up the boies ridding against the concrete and did a job on the track. Now the track will not stay on.
