I was wondering if the US halftrack axle and front wheels would be about the same as a Deuce? I'm getting ambicious again and was wondering if the front frame would work for a base? Any help would be grateful. Thanks

It wouldn't be quite right and we are getting the truck at some point this year I'm sure....If you're feeling adventurous you should make an M3 Scout Car, then your front would be fine

I'm only thinking of using the front chassie with the axle and wheels. I not going to use the body. I like the Dodge in all, but I like the GMC version better. I was hoping 21st C would have done that version. And is the Dodge version smaller than the GMC? I guess my question is would the tire size be acturate for the use?
Here is a picture of what I have in mind:

I might do the canvas cab version, but will be trying this version first.
Thanks for any help.

the M3 would be too small by about 15 percent. Yes the Dodge (that is comiing) is a fair bit smaller than the GMC

I thought the front of the M3 was used for the M3A3, and a truck chassis?

when i said m3 i was being lazy.....i meant the halftrack m3a3. It is a truck chassis but is too small for the GMC truck that i believe he is referring to..

I was hoping that it would work, because the wheels on the Halftrack are taller than the WC-57 cammand cars.
Is the Dodge Truck that 21st C shown us a WC-62? If so, it isn't a deuce. It would be 1 and a half ton truck, so we may never get a Deuce and a half. Just something I found while researching.
Also does anyone know the dimensions for GMC CCKW 353, or where I would be able to find them? Or any other good site for reference. Thanks for any help.

i'm pretty sure the command car would be too small for the base of a 1/18 deuce and a half. I still think the halftrack is too small..
I am not a truck expert but i considered this project before myself but after researching it decided the halftrack was too small to use...

mondaytanker,
As for the command car being used for a deuce doesn't work, because of the size, highth, wheels, and the fact that the Dodge was never 2 1/2 ton capacity in WWII. Granted it does look okay but not acturate. If I go head with this I want it to be acturate.
I thank you all for the help.

Guys:
The WC-62 Dodge is too small to turn it into a CCKW. Momaw's site find is a very nice project but all that does is turn a WC-57 Command Car into a ton & a half. The look of both trucks are very different (Dodge & GMC).
The wheels and tires are different in size, Dodge then up to the Half-track and then up to the GMC. The wheels and tires get bigger still for the M series duece & a half.
No easy solution considering the CCKW's sloped hood and the size of the entire truck. As a matter of fact I do have pics with my 1:1 Command Car sitting next to our club half-track. If interested in seeing them let me know.
I you want exact sizes, I have them in my bunker but it's not heated and on a night when the temp is in the teens, I'm not going down into the unheated concrete bunker until tomorrow. Let me know, if you want the specs and I'll post them.

TTT,
I would be interested in any information and pictures you have. You can e-mail them to me at
momawnadon_hammerhead@hotmail.com.
Question, so you are saying that the tires to the halftrack would be smaller than of a GMC CCKW 353? If so, I think you are right. The xd halftrack wheel looks about three inches (in scale) to short. I found some pictures with people in them and from what I can come up with is the wheels are smaller on the halftrack.
One good thing is that I have figured out how to do the cab. I'll be building it from scratch. I will start when I find dimensions on it. I just have to figure out the wheel problem. Going all the way with this. Thanks to all that have helped.

Monday - def. no hard feelings - that's a favorite custom on this board (and the old one). The creator was (is?) a board member so we have picked his brain about it before. It might not be spot on but it's damn cool and I only wish I had the skills to make one myself
