21st Vietnam series,other aircraft possibilities?
With 21st now coming out with a Vietnam series of 1/18 aircraft, the F-4 and the Mig-21, are there any indications as to which other aircraft (if any)they may be coming out with in this series, or will it stop with just 2 different releases, the F-4 and Mig-21, as the Korean War series ended with a Sabre and a Mig-15.
The Korean War series may be understandable, since the Communist only used the Mig-15 as the main fighter of the war, however I think they did use some prop aircraft on a smaller scale (Yak-9) I think.
As for the US forces, the Sabre being the most popular, but then there were also the F9 Panther,F-80 and F-84 as well as the P-51 Mustang and Corsair.
With the Vietnam series however there are much more possibilities:
North vietnam-- Mig-17(the bulk of the NVAF) and Mig-19.
US- F-105(fighter and Wild Weasel versions),A4 Skyhawk,F-100,F-5,Ah1 Skyraider,A-7 Corsair,A-6 Intruder and some others.
I certainly hope they dont just stop at 2 aircraft.
Now question is will they come out with a Modern series:
F-14,f-15,F-16,F-18, F-111,F-117 Stealth
Mig-23,Mig-25,Mig-29,SU-27
MirageIII,Jaguar,Tornado

Never thought about helicopters
But a Jolly Green sure would be nice, Isnt there already a Huey?
When the Cobra's came out or were announced I was really hoping it would have been a Vietnam era Cobra, but turns out they were modern Super cobra's.
I just love the old Vietnam classic look of the cobra. Hopefully we will see one in the Vietnam series...
As for a Chinook, well that would be huge!!!!! So its very unlikely....I dont know.....maybe not, this announcement of the B-25 has now made me think twice about large aircraft possibilities. Just think of all the 1/18 figures a Chinook could hold.......
What about a MI-24 hind in a Modern series lineup?? Now that a cool looking helicopter...
What is the size comparison to that and a Black Hawk or Apache?? I dont think it can be much bigger.

"Puff the Magic Dragon" - the first gunship C-47
U-2 - the spy plane. One flew regularly out of Bein Hoa airbase and flew over my compound. Now that plane I would hang high up near my cieling
I believe Adminal is making a prop plane loaded with firepower that we used by us and ARVN forces. Can't remember the name, you guys know I'm a real selective plane guy.
Can't have a B-52 in 1/18, that's for sure.

Numbers In Vietnam
Eventhough I am tickled that 21st is releasing the Mig-21, its seems that up until 1968/69 the NVAF only had 16 of these aircraft.
The main fighter in their inventory were Mig-17's having in 1965 36 of these and up to 180 by 1969 which that number included Mi-19's.
I have been trying to find out how many Mig-21's the NVAF had up until the close of the war, but it seems that number never exceeded 20.
I couldbe wrong, but I certainly hope we get a mig-17 based on that information. the Mig-17 was also as widely used throughout the world as much as the Mig-21 was.
But I certainly am happy we are getting a mig-21. bring on the 17's and 19's also........
Also, does anyone know if the Mig-21 will be released in other schemes besides a Vietnam War scheme? Dont every release of a new aircraft come in usually 2 or 3 differnet schemes?

Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

Who stole the thunder, chief...?
Would be happy to see all of the above, but I'm really rooting for the F-105...it's nearly impossible to find as as pre-assembled model in any scale (I know there once was a 1/100 die-cast Corgi or something, and it's available as one of those mahogany models with cataract-looking cockpits), so somebody please get on the case...right now I'd even pick up an overpriced Franklin Mint version if they offered one...but somebody like Admiral or 21CT should really pick up the ball on this very cool but neglected bird...
