Just flew back from a weekend air-show/fly-in late this afternoon, as I was in control for the cross country legs of the trip I am quite exhausted, but I thought I'd drop in to see what was new before I hit the hay.

It is indeed sad news that greeted me here, brought home all the more by the fact that one of the five aircraft that was flying to the same airfield had to make a forced landing due to engine problems, there was some initial concerned that the aircraft had crash, and we prepared to turn back to see if we could help, fortunately both pilots have been reported as being OK although the aircraft they where in may be a little worse off.

My heart felt condolences also go out to the family of the Navy aviator who so tragically lost his life.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the family, friends, and team mates of the Naval aviator that lost their life yesterday.

Having had the pleasure of seeing and occasionally working with these fine group of aviators and others, we tend to take for granted the skill, and danger that goes into each of these shows. They make it look so easy for us the lay people on the ground, to watch and enjoy. I too send out my prayers and best wishes to the family of the lost pilot.

why did Jason take a vow of silence?

I'm very sorry for the reason that you've started posting again, while I'm very glad you are, I wish it were for better reasons. I understand why you aren't and FWIMBW with my understanding and approval (you don't need either BTW). I'm still glad to hear from you again.

Wow!, I hadnt realized that Admiral is now being silent and not posting. I guess I missed the boat on that one. What happened?

I only meant that folks respond to what they find, when they find it. Formal structure has it's place, and an important one, but it's also not "normal" to human interaction. As if the 'net can be considered normal anyway.

That's not to mean that the 'net isn't becoming normal. Since it obviously is, it will have it's own norms and standards. These seem to be working their way around so far.

I was refering to the "silence" bit that i guess i missed what that referred to.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood (a very common thing), I thought I was responding to a very straight forward thing and that was not happened.

No problems. I'm tired and I'm not making a lot of sense anyhow. Enough typing for me today.

Why did Jason take a vow of silence?

I hope Jason isn't taking a vow of silence. How will I find out about my Sabres?

Having worked with The Blue Angels over the years, this is a solid hit in the gut to those of us in Navy public affairs, as well as the Naval Aviation community of flyers and fixers.

The hurt goes deep. And my heart goes out to the eight local residents who were injured and those that suffered property damage.

Though I never knew the pilot of Blue Angel #6 (opposing solo), LCDR Kevin Davis, he was still a shipmate.


Locally, Commander Davis touched the lives of a few folks here in San Diego. Last year he was the pilot of Blue Angel #7, the twin-seat F/A-18 Hornet used to give public affairs media rides to VIPs and local media representatives. In addition to his flight duties in #7, LCDR Davis was also The Blues' show narrator.

My prayers go out to him and his family at this devastating time.
