How about a T-28 Heavy Tank?

"Armourguy", a surberb craftsman, recently finished his custon made T-28. The tank is a monster and he posted pics on a couple of 1/6 boards.

Realize this custom is 1/6



Of course, we know the T-28 never saw combat, but it sure looks great.

Now how about this in 1/18 to do battle with Toigers and Kingtigers???

Awesome work! I'd love to see that crawling around.
It needs some friends like a Maus or E-100 to play with.
Mythical battles like that would have been similar to the ironclads of the civil war.

I get a kick out of this vehicle whenever I see it. It basically showed that we had imaginary designers on this side of the pond during WWII but that's about it.

This vehicle could never have entered production during the War. It was too wide to fit on virtually any flatbed carrier, never would have been able to fit on most European streets, was too wide for most European rail tunnels, and was easily supplanted by other more manageable weapons systems. Plus fixing this thing in the field would have been a nightmare given its double-tracked construction.

That is the first time I have ever seen a tank of such design!! Looks pretty strange!! Would look great though in 1/18th!!!

The T-28 is an interesting but useless vehicle I have been intrigued with since I first read about it in one of my armor books. The designers even included a handy method to make transport "easier!"

The outer tracks could be detached for easier transport. After removal they could be fixed together to make a unit that could be towed behind the tank.

I love that thing!, it looks so menacing, and futuristic.

Unfortunatly, I dont think we will see this in 1/18 any time soon or at all, we dont even have a T-34 yet

"Armourguy" made the tracks as they really were, that is two tracks for transportation and the second outside tracks were detached, winched together and made into a trailer pulled behind the T-28




Nothing says these 1/6 guys go half measure..

What's not to love about a toy that needs a good part of your garage.

If this tank actually saw action, and if by some happenstance the Germans captured one, I can almost guarantee you that they would shake their heads and give it back to the Americans.

Well they had the Americans beat in the insane armored vehicle catagory with the Maus!

Just to give it a little scale, look at the last pic I posted, the one of the second set of tracks and you can see a 1/6 21C Stuart behind it and the Stuart looks absolutely puny...

My hat is off to the excellent crop of guys we have that can take some plactic (or metal) and come up with something like this, either in 1/6 or 1/18....Wow.

I noticed that TTT ,.. Sheesh ! ... + = ... I took a photograph of this particular tank at the Patton Museum in Oct. of 04' , before going to the "Machine Gun Shoot" at Knob Creek ,.. with my friend kneeling in front of it , simply amazing , the size and shape of this thing. ... I just had to check this thing out too , cause it was the most unusual and oddest looking vehicle I'd ever seen. ... I ran through 3-rolls of film that day. ..

Definetely a big vehicle the Stuart looks like a small jeep when put beside the T-28 tank.
