Walmart Recon Snapshot

Post by Teamski » Wed Oct 13, 2004 3:23 pm

Hey guys,

We haven't been kept up to date on what you are seeing now in your local Walmarts, so if you could, post what you see right now on the shelves. I'm curious on just what is out there.....

Snapshot for Dover, DE: 6 Cobras (both schemes) and 5 Winter Tigers............

Thanks!

Lots of Cobra's (snake scheme only), T-bolts out the wazoo, Stuka's both winter and green, red 3 190's, black chevron 190's, tons of winter Tigers, and of course the homerun CIA Huey's hehe.

VMF you are really lucky to have what you do. The 2 small Walmarts in my A.O. do not even carry the 1/18.

Yeah but you figure I'm spittin' distance from WM HQ, we are saturated with WM stores! There is less than 6k population in my town and we're getting a supercenter!!!!! However, XD doesn't show up here quick, I read about sightings for 6 months before anything new shows up here. But at least it eventually shows up so it's all good.

My AO is pretty sparse, just a few winter tigers, maybe a winter sherman or two.

In Pittsburgh, there's only remnants of past items and some Grey Tigers lying about.

I would LOVE a winter Tiger, but have a grey one... I'm debating just doing a paintjob since I love the feel of the heavy steel Tiger I's, grey or white... Never seen a white one though.

BBI's "new" figures are floating into the area here... I saw tonight, for the first time ever, a repackage of the Marines (exactly) on new cards and with new paint features... Better camo patterns, and some of the guys had dirt or stubble painted on. Very cool in a way, and it seems like BBI tweaked the molds so the articulation points stay together more.

The guys with berets were out in full force though, but the chopper pilots come and go it seems, save for some of the green guys.

Good stuff...

WM's XD beyond the Tiger's is limited... Winter Sherman's at almost every WM now, and the P-40 still lingers. Also some AA Huey's here and there, and the rare Snake Cobra here and there...

NOTHING else. :( NOne of the good stuff has seen the light of day here, like the winter Tiger, or Spitfire, or Mustang, or ME's, or whatever...

The last I checked around there before moving back to Los Angeles for school (about 3 weeks ago) there were plenty of XD Winter Tigers to be had along with a few FW-190s of both types. My local Hobbytown USA store was fully stocked with 1-2 examples of most XD aircraft and vehicles currently avaliable to the small retailers. The TRU had gotten in either a second wave (or first) of the BBI SEALS with the green pilots. I grabbed the pilots as you can never have enough! I haven't yet had time to check around my area in LA yet.

Hot Springs, Arkansas has two WMs-one has a few FW 190s, the other has some diecast dark gray Tiger Is, a few diecast Bradleys, some P-47s, and some FW-190s (both paint schemes). Never saw any P-40s, Spits, Cobras, or Hueys (except for the ubiquitous silver CIA one).[/code]

WMs in the Huntsville, Alabama area (Huntsville, Arab, Guntersville) are fairly uniform. Lots of P-47s, some Flying Tiger P-40s, some snake Cobras, BOB Shermans, Spits (no D-Days though) and now Grey Tigers and Stukas again. Oh yes, some of the funky painted Bradleys. No FW-190s of any type to be found, nor camou Cobras, Langley P-40s, or Hueys.

Funny how things go. I went to the Walmart in North Dover (there are 2 here) which usually has the least as far as XD and sure enough, There was a single Red 3 and a single D-Day Spit at full price. My jaw dropped when I saw them!! They are now zero balance on D-Day Spits.

I guess there is hope sometimes in our hobby. Now I would expect to see more around the corner..........
