Walmart Inventory- Dedicated XD Space
Walmart Inventory- Dedicated XD Space
Well, as discussed before, it looks like Walmart is taking XD a bit more seriously and is now in the process of dedicating shelf space to 21st. I visited a WM on a tactical recon tonight and noticed that they are in the middle of their post Christmas inventory. Sure enough, there was dedicated space on the sheets for XD. Unfortunately it is only enough for 4 planes, so it's less than I expected (I had a hint that WM would do this).
Well, it's still a lot better than the one-time shot that we are used to. I expect a better distribution for all of us as a result!

Walmart Inventory-Dedicated XD Space
The Wal-Mart I frequent here in Hot Springs Arkansas pulled a brilliant marketing move. Two weeks before Christmas, when toy demand is probably highest, they cleared the toy dept. upper shelves of most of the toys and put in their place-gray plastic tubs. They stuffed what was left of the 21C stuff in behind the remote-control Hummers. Guess that's why they pay their toy dept. execs those big bucks, to make such shrewd marketing decisions. Every kid wants a gray plastic tub for Christmas.

Go Starbuck!

Walfarts
Ski, thats great news but I've got a similar story to donnieboy, the 1 of 3 walf... ok ok walmarts in my area that sold 21st had none, nothing,NADA! and stuff-toys of all kinds that sat on the upper shelevs had been removed. This too was 2 weeks before Christmas. I'll do a recon run by weeks end
just don't have a good felling about this

Here's an even more interesting bit of info. I once visited a WM out of town last Xmas and searched the toy section for an XD item and found nothing. Upon venturing into the Xmas section to look for wrapping paper and ornaments - lo and behold - sitting on the very top shelf were 3 XD planes!!! I was quite surprised to find these XD items in such a place! So I think WM is finally doing something right to dedicate space for the XD items. They seem to dedicate space for most of the educational toys such as Leap Frog products into one section. Why not for XD?

How about MY Wal Mart- All over they are putting high-quality, in demand XD on clearance... My Wal-Mart has had the AA Huey (that no one likes) for a YEAR. Full price. 5 of them. Very little new stuff. Just the same AA Hueys on the shelf, day after day, week after week, month after month.
Mark them to $20. Let someone buy them. Then get in some bubbletops and Panzer IVs and Messerschmitts, that I will HAPPILY buy at FULL price!!!

My WM in Fresno is pretty much the same way. A couple of Spitfires and 6-8 Desert Bradleys have been sitting around for ever, have mangled boxes, broken parts - and have not been discounted! The only M113 seen in my area, however, was discounted to a wonderful $10, but that remains only an exception to the "No Discount" rule.
BTW, to stay on topic, most of the XD at my Walmart is usually grouped in two places in the toy section - the isle with the R/C cars and a back isle where stuff that doesn't sell is placed.

For some reason XD is not selling in my area. There are at least 10 red bottom FW-190's way up on top of the shelves with their boxes all beat up and clear plastic all torn up. The new Bubbletop -47's aren't selling either...I can't wait to get a discounted one!! It is a shame that the XD are in the toy section when you think about it. It is really tempting to a small child when they are down low to poke their little fingers through the clear plastic to get at the pilots. I did get a 1:6 M5 R/C Tank for $65.00!! The box looked like it was drug behind the boat from China! it was pitiful, but the tank was fine! Later JD
