Based on the first shots, these looked awesome. After seeing the toyfair images, my enthusiasm went down quite a bit. Can't wait for these to reach stores to decide if they are worth it (I do hope so - I like spending money).

I cant wait for these. I am going to army build the Cobra Infantry Troops, and Cobra Officers. I like the masked version of Cobra Commander. Flint would have been cooler if it were not a repaint of the Duke mold.

I'm with you - the Toyfair pics handed me a not again moment - more crappy GiJoe figures - the first pics looked great - but they just look a bit cartoonish - we will wait and see i guess - I said the same about the last series and I still bought tons.

Lol, yup. I always loved Cobra. Unspeakable horror always awaited my Joe's.

My favorite recent sets were of course the Vipers and the Viper Lockdown. Interrogator rules! Plus the Helmeted Cobra Commander with the dark blue uniform. IMO the best Commander ever. Cobra Commander with the removable hood sucked.
This reminds me did you guys ever see the dubs someone did of the Joe PSA's? Get off my ice you little wankers!!

You know what I think? This is getting stupid!! What in the hell do they need to do two Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander, and Cobra Troopers for?? I can somewhat see the need to do two different troopers, but I woulda thought they could have at least done Crimson Guard or something.
At the height, there were at least 50 unique characters, but Hasbro is somehow thinking that they need to do repeats of characters to fill out the 25... I was gonna get these out of nostalgia, but I am now thinking piss on it...

It sucks that so many cool figures will never get updated but that won't stop me from buying new sculpts of popular figures.

I actually don't mind the somewhat cartoony look of the faces, so long as it's subtle. Keep in mind we're looking at really high-res images of figures that are only 4 inches tall. We're staring hard at a magnifying glass, so to speak. So the faces are only going to be, what, 5/8" big, if that? Pretty minor facet for me compared to the amazing details in the rest of the figures.
I am hoping, however, that they more closely resemble the older cartoons rather than the new Sigma Six figures. THAT would be a great homage. I'm a little bummed that they couldn't spring for an updated version of Destro's old cool "chrome" look, though. Guess I'll have some customizing to do ...
I actually was completely hooked on this list of figures until, yeah, they showed the duplicate Stormy, Snakes, and Cobra figures in this recent batch of pictures. I thought, "WTH? What a waste of 3 precious slots in a limited release of only 25! What next, the v2 Destro with gold helmet and cape, v3 Cobra Commander with armor, and the Gung Ho in Marine Dress Blues???" How are they going to fill in the last 10 figures for this limited list of only 25, when there's a huge catalog of at least 400 or 500?! I mean, I'm happy to see the v2 Snakes and v2 Stormy, but methinks they could be reserved for the next 'wave' of Anniversary figures. Ehh.
As it stands, we still have a large list of candidates for the remainder: Scrap-Iron, Firefly and Zartan, the twins Tomax and Xamot, and (as someone already mentioned) the Crimson Guards and the ever favorite std Vipers. And what about Col/Gen Hawk, Sgt Stalker, Sgt Beachhead and Lt Falcon (to round out the 'chain of command' with Duke and Flint), and the the list of lesser favorites Tunnel Rat, Snowjob, Breaker, Clutch, Rock N Roll, heck just about anyone from the original team...
And we haven't even glanced at the other ladies on the team roster (Lady Jaye, Zarana, Jinx, Cover Girl, etc...)

maybe we will get some 1:18 scale Joe and cobra vehicles!!!
a XP-14F Skystriker
or
the XH-1 Dragonfly

Yeah, I think a Dragonfly would be great, but thanks to 21st Century, the 1:18 green-camo Huey Cobras works great to fill those open Joe hangars in my collection.

Those were/are some seriously sweet models and I can't imagine I was the only collector to see the opportunity to replace the far-less realistic G.I.Joe Dragonfly choppers from the early 80s.
The Joe toyline was always about "experimental" stuff on the battlefield, and while they created some really bizarre stuff or simply "updated" some of the contemporary vehicles of the time, a few of those crazy ideas aren't quite so crazy 2 decades later. We've seen our military forces get as much mileage out of anything in inventory with alot of their own modding, for experimental or practical means.
But I have a hard time seeing the merit in spending production and money to bring back older, underscaled vehicles, especially if Hasbro is going "all out" with the super-detailed Anniversary theme. Here's hoping we either see all-new vehicle molds, or just alot of new soldier figures to pilot the wonderful BBI and 21st vehicles.
