Small Scale Military Headquarters

It looks like Mato Toys will be the sole distributor to North America for this cool piece of armor. Sounds like the vehicles were held up by a rail strike and may arrive in the near future. Cost $145.

Oh the stories I could tell! Anyhow this beast looks to be a winner. I will wait for reports on the quality of the toy though.

I had a doctor telling me of his neighboors... the kids were bouncing their atv's off HIS fence!

Anyway why wait it's only money! I ordered 3 off their site, the Mk III, the strumtiger and what the hell, the M-41.

be curious to see how it matches 21C's for size.

That sturmtiger is the weirest looking piece of armour out there but I would still get one in 1/18.

This site sure has a lot of accessoires available for the 1/16 tanks.

The difference between 1/16 and 1/18 always astounds me. They sound so close to each other.

Well that's just amazing, thats only 2% scale differance. It looks like a 10% visual difference or more, wonder whos off?

I had asked earlier, as I though a company would be easier to copy a exsisting tank mold to make knock offs, so it looks like that rc M-41 is purpose built.

Really looking forward to the Mk III.

well I'm not good at math, I'm better at eyeballing...

That is one of the hardest thing to learn with my manual lathe, "becoming" precision minded into thousandths, and then doing it all over on another piece. And getting that identical to the first piece.

It's even a little bigger using 1/18 as your reference point: a 1/16 item is 12.5% larger than a 1/18 item. As you noted, a 1/18 item is 11.1% smaller than a 1/16 item.

it is actually 12.5% too big as compared to 1/18 but i figured it was simpler to show it the way i did and i figured 1.4% really isn't that signficant to justify a long winded explanation.

Interestingly, the percentage difference between 1/18 and 1/20 is less, the 1/20 scale item being 10% too small from the frame of reference of 1/20 and 11/1% too small from the frame of reference of 1/18 (which is what counts to us). This is the law of large numbers in action, sorta.

So, the bottom line is if you're going to cheat on scale it's better to cheat towards 1/20 than towards 1/16, because the size difference gets worse, faster in that direction.

Just finished setting it up, this is way more than i thought it was going to be. I know its costly, but believe me its worth ever bit, more fun than i have ever had with a Tank. Ok, easy instructions, Tank battery pack supplied & charger. You need 8 aa batteries for the contoller, but what a contoller. You press a key & the motor winds up, plently of volume & than 5 seconds later the motor settles down to good hum & low & behold the exhaust pipes start venting smoke for real. There is a aerosol bottle to top up when smoke runs out, but comes topped up & ready to go. Than you pour 50 bb's in the top hatch & you can fire on command, they travel 3m, poor cat. You can have the sound of machine gun fire or cannon blast, with the whole vehicle lurching backward in recoil. The driver stick is the best I have come across & far easier to drive the Tank than the 21st remotes. I have placed a couple of 1/18 figures on board & they look in keeping despite the 1/16 aspect. I put a 1/18 Tiger next to it & the Tiger is close to the same lenght & I mean maybe 1cm, it blends in beautifully & I would not say that if there was any doubt, as I am very much, if its not 1/18 I do not want to know about it. Also comes with a target to shoot the bb's at, not keen on picking them all up after though. The motor winds down when you switch it off. This is a real fun model & if you can afford it, strongly recommend it. I will put it on Kurt's Kamera Korner for the April photo.

Oh by the way there are soft gummy targets the the bb will stick to, then slide down to a tray. My buddy got me one for christmas. Found at walmart.

This would be a cool custom for 21st. You could use the same chassy of the Tiger and have the hull of the Sturm bolt or screw on. I ready

I can't justify spending $500 on a single tank right now. My website income usually sets my "budget" for toys and other things, this year sales are down for some reason so I'll trim my spending a bit.

I'll get that someday to have it for the future.
