Looks a bit big to me. Could be 1/6 or 1/8th scale.

way big. The DR 1 had a length of about 18 feet and wingspan around 23-ish. So it would be roughly 12 inches by 15 inches in 1/18.

And deserves to be made! Along with a Sopwith Camel, Spad VIII, and Folker DVII 8) The quoted dimensions would only make one a little larger than a 32x plane, meaning easy display space and storage!

Yeah! I mean what could be better than having Capt. Roy Brown's Sopwith Camel fighting it out with Von Richtofen's Dr. 1 above your bed, or Leutnant Friedrich Kempf's Dreidecker with the white "K" On the fuselage and the legend "Kennischt mi noch?" on the wings?

I need in on this one. I will take any WW1 era Plane from the Fokker Eindecker to the US Jenny trainer.
And by the way Fox Tare it wasn't Broun it was the Ausie. Front trench line that shot Manfred down . Or was it Snoopy  Actually there was no concrete proof who shot him down Broun or the Ausies. Need to get the cold case guys on this or the CSI . I think the Vegas squad or maybe Horatio .Yeah that's right Horatio he won't let up till he gets his guy.

Greetings,

There is a 1/18 Fokker DR-1 Triplane available on the market, but it is very expensive due to the construction techinque used. At least it is 1/18 according to Aferg's calculations.

Wingspan on this model is 15 inches and it is about 13 inches long. It is made by the company Authentic Models. Has metal parts and actual construction is stick and dope tissue. This size of the model goes on ebay for about $130. I put the Stuka gunner next to it for a good comparison. It's very close.

Greetings,

I have all of this company's models and love them, however, their bigger models are not 1/18 scale, they seem to be around 1/12 or so as I display them with 1/12 dollhouse people and those seem to be pretty close, but they are much bigger than 1/18.

The company makes a smaller size however they do their models in very unusual scales. If you can live with sometihng being a little off it is ok but if you can't, then you are in trouble. For example, they make a model of the Dixie Clipper Boeing B314 that works out to be about 1/50 scale. Quite odd considering if it was 1/48 or 1/43 it would make more sense.

With their models, quality control is something to keep an eye on. These models are super delicate and require some minor assembly which if you goof, can make your day miserable with them. For example, the wings assemble with screws which work good, but the screws aren't the best and the result is a poor fit and possibly stripped screwheads. The tires tend to crack on these models too, though they never seem to break through and fall off. They are very nice models and the only company I know of that does this type of construction for the mass market.

I took the desktop Sopwith Camel from Authentic models completly apart and re-did it in Capt. Browns Sopwith. I even went as far as to make 8 Le Prieur air to air rockets to fit on it just to show what they looked like. It fits in nicely with my Red Baron display. Have a good one. Sarge

One important thing though. The paint schemes are NOT historicaly correct especially on the fighter planes. I purchased the decktop Sopwith camel and tried to find out where it came from and got in touch with a club in England. Their response was the scheme on the plane was a figment of someones imagination. But other than that they are still pretty good models. Have agood one. Sarge
