Poll: What is the next most important piece of 1/18 armour?

Speaking hypothetically here but maybe after the KT and 88 we will see more 1/18 armour. I imagine we will and maybe a poll like this will be useful to 21c in guiding future product development. At any rate, it's kinda fun. :)

I've listed what i think are probably the most likely candidates and what are, at this point, the most important vehicles to be made.

So: What is the next most important piece of 1/18 armour that should be made?

I know everyone and their brother wil clamor for a T-34. But, I took Priest because I had more fun playing it on Battle Field 1942 than any other piece of armor on the list.

Where's my Jagdpanther?

no jagdpanther, yet. More important things needed, in my opinion.

Well, since the Jagdpanther just got shot down, then I think the 8-ton mover should be next in line. We need something to move the 88's unless the halftracks are capable of doing it. :D

Stug....III of IV

Sturmgeschütz units held a very impressive record of tank kills - some 20,000 enemy tanks by spring of 1944., plus, approximately 9500 Sturmgeschütz IIIs of various types were produced....one very important AFV

Well i have wanted the 8t prime mover for 5 years now & being a bigger piece it will give a wow factor like the KT.

Why is the 8-ton prime mover considered an armor? :?

Imagine you're a German infantry on the Eastern Front in the spring of 1944.....

Suddenly, over the horizon, you see 20-30 T-34s with supporting infantry charging your position.

So you called in for support. HQ replied, "You will have armor support in 10 minutes...hold your positions!!"

So you and the rest of your men, manning anti-tank guns, and hand-held weapons, held of charge after charge....but without armor, you will be overrun in the next assault.

Suddenly, one of your men yelled, "Look! our armor support has come!"

You looked back, expecting Stugs, Tigers, Panthers, or even Panzers...

But what you saw was....a platoon of 8-ton prime movers....that's it.

So no.....I don't think you'd wanna classify them as armor... :D

(same thing with half tracks)

Yes but do forget they are pulling 88's, you know how lethal they are.

armour is just a catch all phrase for combat military vehicles and equipment. Much easier to type 'armour'. I could have put artillery pieces in the poll as well and i would have still kept the title the same.

I know the sdkfz was soft skinned.

I voted for the T-34, since it seems so logical, historically speaking. A prime mover would also be cool (and look great towing a Flak 88 or filled with a bunch of troops) but, IMHO, a T-34 would be better

I had to go with the T-34 as well.

I think IF we get WWII Russians we need some ground armor, a couple of aircraft’s and troops, I think it would be a big investment for 21st to make them but I think they will sell well.

The tooling cost would be around one or two million US dollars for 21st to make a complete WWII Russian ground and aircraft with figures.

WOW, I'm really surprised (and encouraged) that the T-34 has jumped out in the lead. Personally I would just LOVE to see a T-34, or any Soviet tank for that matter, but I've floated this idea before and the response was rather ho-hum as I recall. So, you guys would really like to see a T-34 eh?? Well... which model?? Personally I'd like a late war type with the 85mm gun, what do you guys think??

On a related note:
The tooling cost would be around one or two million US dollars for 21st to make a complete WWII Russian ground and aircraft with figures.
I'm not disputing your estimate but on what do you base that figure on?? Just curious. :?:

My vote, within this selection, goes to the T-34 as well. I don't get why manufacturers ignore russian armor/vehicles/planes. I guess they don't appeal to the vast majority yet they have some nice, sometimes funky, designs. I must say though that i would LOVE a jagdpanther in 1:18, which, IMHO, is one of the best looking pieces of armor ever made.

T-34 hands down :D

Well, its a tie for me between the Stug and the Pershing. I know the great history of the T-34 series but Russian tanks just don't appeal to me. We already have the PZIV chassis, give us a late model Stug with the Schurtzen!!!

I picked the PZ III

We need the basics first -
The Priest is on the way and the prime mover is my second choice.
Stug would be nice as well.

Well Aferguson. Since you dont have a Hetzer or a Marder II or III on the list :? I will go with the T-34. Those late model Tiger 1's need to have something to play with.

I want a 1:18 Karl Morser!!!!

but for now a Stug would be kinda cool

I voted for T-34 because I really want to see one made, but I really think the next practical one would be the prime mover because the 88 is on its way. I would love to see a whole Russian series, but at least a couple of Soviet troops need to be released if they do the T-34.

I want to vote for "None of the above". Where is the modern armour?
In the four years or so I've been collecting 1/18th, I have seen a grand total of 1 M1 Abrams, 1 M60, 1 LAV-25, 2 r/c M113s (one desert, one black & green) and 3 Motorcycles. That's spread over TRU & WallyWorld in the States, and the one shop I have been to in the UK that sells any BBI or C21 that isn't either a figure, a Spitfire or an Me-109. (And I know of only THREE over here that sell any BBI & C21 at all!) :x

Also, who invented the things in the first place? I can't help noticing a distinct lack of any British armour on there - except the Firefly, that is. And even that's not a true British tank, just an American one with a decent turret and gun. Bearing in mind how many people are screaming for an A10, you can't claim to discriminate on grounds of appearance.

So I'd like to add the Challenger 1 & 2, Chieftan, Warrior MICV, CVR(T) family (Scorpion, Scimitar, Striker, Stormer) and the MP90 artillery piece...
