While going through some things around my house, I found a couple of interesting items, that may be approximately 1:18 scale! This topic is closely tied with a couple of older threads from around a month ago, but I decided to create a new one.
The first item was an old AA Gun of some sort (see the miscelaneous folder on my website). It was a toy that belonged to my father and dates from the 1950s. It was made in England by a company called Astra. The gun rotates on its mount, and the knob sticking out the rear can elevate the barrel. The breach is spring loaded and can flick a toothpick or small projectile out the barrel. It looks like a German 88mm Flak Cannon, but may be more similar to a British AA Gun. I think its approximately 1:18 scale and have placed some German troops next to it for scale. Anyone seen this before?
The other item is a Pola building my father and I built about 14-15 years ago (again, see the miscelaneous album on my website). The building is an old German-styled two storey water-powered mill. It was designed to be used with G-Scale trains, but the structure appears to be 1:18 scale! I have placed a couple of S1 German troops next to it for reference. The water wheel is powered by a small electric motor (I don't think it works now) and the structure's interior is hollow. One of these days I'll use it in a diorama!

Awesome
Those are great finds. That mill retails at around 250 and looks great so no sense in that collecting dust! Good job.

wow....that building is really nice!
The gun: funny i nearly bought one of those on Ebay. It's worth about $100 or so, maybe more. It is made by Astra, Atra, something like that...a British company anyway. It was based on the British 3.7 inch AA gun and is a reasonable facsimile of the early versions of that gun. It is also pretty close to 1/18 scale.
So what you have there is something you can use to shoot down your stuka, me-109 and any other german aircraft that come along. These guns were used from the early days of the war right up to the end; Battle of Britain, baby blitz, V-1 attacks etc.
Let's see some custom british crewman now!

You will see they are a tad small, but still great for variety. They're pretty tough too.
