Planes you want that will NEVER get made...

OK, some blatant self-promotion: I'm currently workign on a 1/18 Heinkel Wespe VTOL fighter, a Curtis twin-engine P-40 variant, and I *was* working on a Me-109Z until I found out that a Me-109G was coming out (which would be a vastly better basis than the current Bf-109). A Natter is planned, along with an X-4 and several other air-to-air German missiles... and a few other things. Being greedy, I plan on making these as kits.

Obviously, a whole lot of Luft '46 going on.

But, as I said, I'm greedy. So, what planes would y'all be interested in (WWII to today) that there is NO chance that 21 or BBI will produce? Other Luft '46 planes? Equivalent US, UK, Sov projects? X-planes?

I think you asked us this on Groundpounders board a few months back. That board is going down in a few more weeks and this one is taking its place.

Weren't you also going to do a Triebflugel?

Hmmmm,
How about an Arado Ar 234B-2,Waco glider,g4m betty, mosquito,Kawanishi
N1K Kyofu float plane,Lavochkin La-7,Henschel Hs 129.Okay,those are the
strangest planes I can think of right now.I don't think 21st will build them,
but if you make them,I'll buy them.

At this point, the Zero would be a good candidate...

However, to stay on topic, here's my list:

Any WWI Plane (at this point)
Japanese "Val" Divebomber
Japanese "George" fighterplane
ME-163 Komet
TA-163 Volksjager fighterplane
Focke-Wulf TA-183 Jet fighter

Arado Ar-555 Medium Jet Bomber
The "Indiana Jones" German Flying Wing
AT-6 Texan
P-80
B-17
B-24
B-25
B-26
P-61
I'll cut it here, but could easily add many more aircraft!

I'd have to say the Mosquito and the A-20 Havoc. They are really in the size catagory and won't be made. However, you never know about the Mossie now that Corgi is in the XD fray :P

Kinda, yeah.
aferguson wrote:Weren't you also going to do a Triebflugel?
At the time, it was a "Which do y'all want? Triebflugel or Wespe?" A triebflugel is definitely possible, but I started with the Wespe (cuz I like it more).

Seems the Zero and the Me 163 are up there in popularity. As the chances are pretty good of a 21 or BBI Zero, I'll hold off on that. But the Komet...

I would have liked to vote for the Zero, but I'm sure it will be guilt sometime before the end of (the) 21st Century
The Komet (ME-163?) would be fun to own and I don't want to jinx it, so I won't vote for that one.
I guess I'll go with the Mosquito since I know the Old Man at 21C wants to build the Me 110. BTW, the Luftwaffe deeply envied the Mosquito, but could never match it & only come up with underperforming wannabes like the 110!

How about the P-82?
Most of the tooling is already there, just a few tweaks here and there and VAVOOM! a P-82 Twin Mustang

Spruce Goose. :rollin

Now, Beltfed, while it is true the Luftwaffe envied the Mosquito it is not true that they only came up with underperforming wanna bes.

The He-219 was faster and far better armed than the Mosquito and in fact shot many Mosquitos down both at night and in daylight. The Germans also had the Ta-154 which was made of all wood. They initially had problems with the glue that held it together but this was ironed out. It was extremely fast and a very promising new aircraft but was cancelled for political reasons (basically Goring hated Kurt Tank, the designer). The Ta-154 Moskito was more than a match for the british Mosquito.

Don't get me wrong...i love the Mosquito, it was a remarkable aircraft and is one of my most favourites..

Any twin engine plane will do, I know we got the p-38 but an

A-20 HAVOC
P-61 BLACK WIDOW
B-25 MITCHELL
would be sweeeet!
come 21st I know you can do it.

Any X plane, a Komet would be great, I'd definitely buy a couple. :D

I remember hearing that 21c was not interested in doing a Komet as they felt it wouldn't sell, which of course is wrong (as they so often seem to be). So, maybe a Komet would be a good choice.

Personally i was astonished, yes, astonished, to hear 21c say that. With a modicum of imagination they could make the Komet look amazing and a must have for any WWII collector... eg make it and it's little tractor in one neat package or it and a z stoff (or c stoff) fuel truck etc.

Many interesting possibilites other than 'no'.

1/18th Me 262

Very cool and I must say I like Me 262"s. I've built 2 of them in 1/32nd scale but !/18th, the biger the better. .... at least I can see then.

My top two have already been mentioned, but I'll add my vote: Mosquito and F-82. How about a B-26, or A-26?

I would like to see what has been list above as well.

As for the size of the plane, it will never make it to 1:18th scale, but I would love to have a B-17 medium bomber. Maybe in the Memphis Bell paint.

A little smaller, but big and may never come:
Heinkel HE-111, which would be a very cool plane in 1:18th scale.
Junkers JU-52, like the tri-engine design and needed for German Paras to jump from.
And don't forget the C-47 for the Americans.
For modern I would have to ask for a F-14 Tomcat.

For more practical and smaller yet, I would have to say A-10 Thunderbolt II Warthog, if 21st C thinks it isn't worth going to production with. I think it would be very poplar. Have we forgot about this one? I think we have with the Zero thing. Will the Zero be another A-10 thing, but they have the prototype of the A-10. We have never seen a prototype on the Zero, So I wonder if it will be forgotten in time.

I’d be willing to bet that we will indeed see the B-17 or B-24 someday but probably in the 1/32 line. 1/18 would be spectacular but would be a monster to hang or display. A 32x B-17 would still be larger than the P-38 in 1/18. Hope to see it someday. I have two armor 1/48 B-17s and I love them both dearly. I plan on buying more when finances permit.

Eh, don't forget that we never saw the prototype of the P-47 when all of a sudden it hit the shelves from nowhere. The Zero might give us the same appearance............
