Possible A-10 Paint Schemes

Here are some that I found, feel free to post others since there is apparently some concern the A-10 wouldn't have enough variety.

lol....are you trying to contradict 21c's position or confirm it? There are two basic schemes: grey and euro grey/green. The little colour and nose marking variations are not what 21c is looking for, except on very specific pilot's mounts from WWII....they want majorly different schemes, like what is possible on a Mustang or Phantom. (The Corsair had a more limited variety of schemes but it's a corsair and as such waaaaaaaaay more popular to the average joe than an A-10 and probably costs about 1/4 as much to make).
The A-10 is a dead issue with 21c i'm afraid. We have to now pin our hopes on either BBI or AT coming through, or GWS may have a lot of sales coming their way.

He's not contradicting himself Aferg. There maybe two general schemes but the liveries make it different. You don't think someone would notice the difference between a Lizard Camo w/ Shark Mouth and a Lizard Camo w/out Shark Mouth?
Think the average Joe notices a big difference in the Me-109 camos or the markings of the liveries?

sure they might NOTICE it..but would they buy both? Especially when it's a huge plane? Unlikely. I know the passionate A-10-aholics would but there aren't enough of you guys around.
The 109 and it's various liveries haven't sold all that well and it's a far more popular plane than the A-10 (sorry) plus the 109 costs waay less than an A-10 to make and it's much smaller so people are more likely to buy duplicates of it.
Try and look at the glass half full here. Now that 21c is clearly out of the picture A-10-wise that may make it more appealing for someone else to manufacture.

Oh I think they would notice it.
On the note of size, how many F-4s do you think they will buy in relation to it's size?
I agree on the glass half full...

.....just want to hear them say it right out...

lol......the F-4 will have a much broader appeal than the A-10 (sorry again). I will buy far more Phatoms than i would ever get A-10's.
This doesn't spell the end of the hopes for an A-10. You should know that there is always hope...

Me too, no offense to any A-10 fans, If they did come out with a 1/18 A-10, i actually wouldnt be too excited for it, mainly because im more of a warbird kind of guy instead of a Modern Jet kinda guy, but in 1/32 I could go for some jets cause there hasnt been any so far, and that is going to be cool once they get released

You sure about that? I can think of about four Bf-109G's with about as much variety as the green A-10s from Gulf War 1!! Without looking in my storage shed, I couldn't even tell you which of the 109's I bought or didn't buy or thought I bought or bought two of and don't know it yet!!

I appreciate your cander, but appeal is in the eyes of the beholder much like beauty. With these two aircraft, I think it could be a fair toss up...

Depends on your perspective. In some cases, as stated, minimal differences are enough apparently. Check the Huff and Squitch Sabre's, USAF and Really George 104s, Russian and NK migs, Flight 19 Avengers, etc..
Granted they throw one or two schemes in on top of that, but that's where the various Camo A-10s fit in.
Five appears to be the magic number for anything that isn't a Mustang.
Sorry that the links in my first post didn't work. I'll try to find more pictures.

I was looking at some video I took over the past few years at airshows. The one thing I noticed both while I was at the show, and on tape was all the interest in the A-10s that were either performing or on static display. There is just nothing like it.

I would love to get an A-10. I would buy one with the Ninja Turtle art and the Bart Simpsons art because it screams the late 80's/early 90's which is also when this plane kicked some serious butt. The Phantom has its fans (which I am not one of them) and the A-10 also has its fans.
I think another reason I want one is simply because it reminds me so much of the Cobra Rattler from my GI-JOE days. I was a little surprised when I heard the real deal didn't have the VTOL capability.
Having 21st completely writing it off is frusturating, but maybe Admiral can pick it up and run with... then 21st will then come out with one.

Oh and aferg if it isn't clear by now, I'm not trying to waken the dead hunger strike thread by any means (or I would have done just that).
Simply making a point that the paint scheme issue isn't really an issue in and of itself as someone stated to TKO.
Here's a link to a bunch of paint schemes. The Jaws, Peanut, D-Day anniversary Hoosier Hog and Alaskan all look cool..

The A-10 can't be doing too badly. Armour/Frankling Mint seems to be selling them at a good clip in 1/48 at $60-80 a pop. And they are one of the few Armour planes I often see sold out and never see on sale at Bad Cat.
Maybe because of the Cobra Rattler. Maybe because it is the baddest ground support aircraft ever built. Maybe because I remember breaking windows playing Sierra On-Line's simulator on my 286 through a 150 watt per channel stereo in college (yes, I am that old and now that hard of hearing). But I want one, and if there are multiple options available, I will buy them all. But make them.

A-10

Greetings Everyone,
I would defintely buy an A-10 in a large scale if it came out. It is a very unique looking plane and the foam kit I have seen just doesn't do it justice and is time consuming to make. I'd love to see a quality A-10 built as a park flyer by parkzone or one of the better park flyer companies. Some of the park fliers available from outside the U.S. are three times better quality than the GWS stuff. (No offense guys). It's just to me, prepainted and including everything is really the way to go nowdays, makes it less time consuming to build for display or flying. Plus, painting foam is tough! Too much moisture and it will bend or absorb too much.
I would want one from the 111th Fighter Wing based at Willow Grove. This unit usually flies a pair of them over my house everyday at some point, sometimes more. It will be a shame if they lose their aircraft (currently being fought by the State of PA) and are departed elsewhere. I remember watching them as a kid and my dad helping me look up what planes they were at the time as I did not know. The shape was unmistakable and the A-10 to me anyway, has a very distinct sound.
I have not been able to find the Armour one currently available in the 111th scheme. I believe it has the Liberty Bell on the tail. If anyone finds one, let me know, I'd love to have that scheme.

I hope they get to keep their A-10s as well Corey. The state of PA is putting up a good fight. It's always great to see them flying overhead when I'm in the Philly area. They fly over our office there as well. I'll keep you posted if I see the model you are looking for.

The nose art is kinda cool but only slightly different. Also ninja turtles and simpsons property folks would not like to see those in stores without some hefty paychecks to line some pockets. Um... kinda like Aferg said... Are we trying to support the theory of green camo or low vis grey air national guard markings to be all that there is?
It's just a tough call ya know... Some one needs to get the real sales numbers on the Air National Guard F-16's from a while back! That might support or disprove the theory that grey planes sell really really well! Real numbers not what we think as fans... honest to goodness numbers.

There's more than just Air National Gaurd marking there. The Sharks Mouth brings a whole new look to the A-10 and you have to admit that.
Although some of the paint schemes were test apps., they were worn and are viable schemes. Sort of like the Tigermeet F-104...
