Intoyz 4" Figures: Anyone have info?
Folks:
Can anyone give me context on the line of Intoyz "Armed Forces" 4" figures? Appears to have been discontinued, but I am having a tough time trying to figure out just what was produced and what never came to be...
I'd venture to say they would be just a bit bigger than XD and BBI stuff at 4" (although they say that they are 1/18th).
I know that the SWAT and SEAL teams were developed, but have no information on any other items in this line.
Anyone have some of these? I'd be interested in knowing their quality?
For more info: http://actionfigures.about.com/library/ ... -4inch.htm
Thanks!

They were pretty much crap. Poorly proportined, painted and the helmets did not fit on the heads properly.
They made 4 german wwii figures and some modern special forces figures too.
Of the german figures the one with the zeltbahn was the best. I got a couple with the idea of using the torso and replacing the head and legs.
The helmets are actually useful as WWI german helmets as they are too domey and the frill is too big to look like a proper WW2 german helmet. I've actually used a couple of Intoyz german helmets for custom WWI germans i made.
The head sculpts are actually quite nice however. Decently painted and with excellent era hair styles...they look very german. The heads are by far the best part of the figures.
The German 'Infantry' figure, which is wearing a reversable cold weather outfit is also not bad. I repainted a couple white to use as winter uniforms...they look ok. They have a nice 'bulky' look that you see in many photos of germans wearing the winter suit.
The figures are all too tall. If you chop them down at the knees a bit they will work with XD and BBI figures, though.
Overall they are terrible but if you are a customizer they can be of use. They are hard to find now, which would tend to drive the price up but i recommend you don't pay more than 2 or 3 dollars per figure. More than that they are just not worth..

Villains
We have a few - 21st made the 2 eastern warriors, who with a few head swaps gives you about 4 guys. I also took the head off the Special Forces guy and put it on the NVA regular body and presto - Iraqi Army. Problem is they're long defeated....
Other options include using the hooded bbi guys which you could get cheap, and mixing up body parts to make them look rag-tag. The key is plenty of AK-47s from the VN line....

Intoyz modern, I did not buy ant ww2 as they looked like S#%@
figures - crappy but they do not fall apart when played with
weapons - very nice and some of the earliest modern 1/18 released
Ar15, M16/M203 - Sniper FNLAR - MP5's, Glocks, and Tec 9
removable vests(swat) - nice with some paint they look like US modern troops.
Alice Packs (seals) - very close to Vietnam era ruck's
Swat helmets - crap
Seal boonie hats - not bad with some carving
also some nice grenades were included
Seal Divers - nice weapons and equipment - dorkey looking figure
tomd
ps - for as bad as they were I still bought 20 to 30 for the gear (don't tell my wife)....My kids have the figures in the sandbox...

I have my doubts as to anyone making any modern terrorists/insurgents figures as that'll be too sensitive to put on the toy aisles, just look at the issue of TRU and 21st Century WWII Germans a year or so ago. Given that the BBI 1/18th line is sold on the general market, I doubt they'll make any terrorist/insurgent figures for the line and anyone wanting one may have to customize their own, look for figures from Lanard's earlier Corps line, particularly the Construction line as these have figures in civilian gear, plus some of the G.I joe figures are useful as well, mix enough parts and paint the features into darker shades as you should be able to come up with your own terrorists/insurgent figures.
I don't believe the intoyz villains ever made production, the SWAT figures have nicely scaled MP5s and handgun for 1/18 along with ballistic vests. Very useful to get for the parts.

i had the same issue when they disappeared a couple years back, thankfully i was able to buy a lot from KB online, so i got a lot of them, and i'd have to disagree, yea they are more toylike than other lines but with little customization they can look a lot better, and the swat figures look great as is, only decent removble 1:18 balaclavas, great accesories if nothing else with these figures, wish they were still around would have loved to get some of those terrorists they had lined up.

I agree with kenhil2. I think these figures were good if not better than some of the other 1:18 figures available now. I got a boatload from Blue Planet at $1.99 each and they now populate my 1:18 universe. No matter how you pose these guys, they don't become amputees. Their joints are tight and the ankle joints are exemplary. The SWAT team balaclavas are great and fit decently. The SEAL divers can actually simulate swimming, once again with an articulated ankle joint.

I got a handful of the initial SWAT and the Germans... Again mostly for gear or headsculpts.
The headsculpts are a mix of good/decent and bad. On the Germans there's 2 really nice headsculpts actually, one who looks younger and one older, and then there's one with slicked back hair that looks laughable... Like an alien his head's so damn big.
Their gear's "eh". Not as deatiled as 21st's stuff, which isn't as detailed as BBI or Dragon's stuff generally...
The one German's body I have here apart, and I'm wanting to put it on some XD legs (preferably BotB German legs) and cast some hands for it. It's the reversable parka body. it's actually pretty good... The others kinda bite though.
The SWAT guys had very ugly headsculpts. Almost cartoonish, and awkward. Some of the gear's cool, but not a ton of it. I sort of wish I'd gotten the guy with the shield and the guy with the ram, as both are an accessory I'd like for my BBI SWAT who were better figures but had rubbery accessories.
There's something to be said for them for parts, but as far as figures go their sculpts were generally poor, especially on the SWAT (I never got any SEALS). They are horribly proportioned (overly long arms, really oddly long torsos too) sculpts... Articulation's not hidden at all either, which 21st and BBI both do substantially better jobs at hiding articulation than InToyz did.
It's a shame a company with the means to put a line(s) out didn't put out a high quality line. Competition's key, and they just didn't, and that's why they failed I believe.
I got all the ones I got for cheap... I'm content with that. Especially the headsculpts that WERE good. The two I got are neat. The one is a neat shaven around the side with the long hair on top... Very classic look for Europeans at the time, and a classic German headsculpt I believe.
The younger one's neat too... Very cool.
