Friendly Reminder- Corsair Hinges!!!

Now that Kepford Corsairs are hitting the stores, a friendly reminder and caution. Before installing the wings, make sure you loosen the hinge screws and if you can, file down the lock tabs on the tongue. The hinges to fold the wing are too tight and will break in short order. Loosening the screws will relieve some of the stress on this underengineered part. Filing off the lock tabs on the tongues will make it easier to remove the wings later. If you want to display your Corsair with the wings folded, remove the wings and set them down onto the tongue without snapping them on. Tip them forward like this and they look 100% accurate:

Hope this helps newer collectors avoid the tears that many of us have already shed on the XD Corsair; beautiful, but deadly to the owner........

After a disaster with my origional Kepford Corsair a while back (lets just say its displayed with wings extended - only!), I tried Teamski's marical solution with my Boyington Corsair when I purchased that a few months ago... The result? It works and the wings fold or extend so much more smoothly!

I have several Corsairs and I have not done this modification to any of them.
I have already assembled them and am considering doing this to them.
Am I looking for trouble if I do it now, or should I leave well enough alone?
I don't want to break any of them, but if I can do this to save a later problem, I'm game.
Thanks,
Brian

If you are careful in pulling out the wings, it shouldn't be a problem. Just don't yank so hard that you break the hinge off!

Thanks to Teamski's info, all 3 of my Corsairs are able to utilize the hinged wings. His info especially saved my Pappy Corsair. Thanks again!!!

Hi Guys,
Well,After finding your web site.I see that I am not the only
one.Having a problem with the wings on the corsair. To bad
both sides of both wings.Have craqcked.I contacted mfg.
But no go they said you cannot buy them seperate from the
main fusalage of the corsair. So,I guess the wings will have
to be in the down position for as long as I own the corsair.
Signed,Steve

Hi Ski,
I think the detail and the scale. Is real nice.I can't wait until
the new Avenger comes out in the 2nd quarter of this year.
I hope they do a better job with the wings and the hinges.
