Heritage Aviation, a company based out of the UK I believe will be producing a model kit of the Lancaster in 1/24 scale. Price will be around $275-300 US. I've seen partial pics of the prototype kit and it's huge! Also in the plans are a Mosquito with a probable Halifax and Wellington along with some modern stuff ie. Lightning jet and Buccaneer. I figure this is a close as we'll get to a 1/18 Lancaster so I'm definitely getting one!

I prefer the detail to a plastic / resin kit vice a foam RC kit as foam just looks too toyish to me especially with the oversized control surfaces etc.

it will be very tempting, no question...
This should be in the 'cheating on scale' thread.

Hmm, the artical I read didn't mention vacuform, oh well, vacuform AND resin still ok. Didn't think of before but vacuform actually better for weight, this way there won't be stress on the wings that results in the usual sag over time. However, in the big kits, I find that using small metal dowel rod eliminates this problem. The key to vacuform is extreme patience, and of course previous modelling skill always helpful. Thanks for the color pic aferg, a sweet looking plane.
