Missing Threads

Post by aferguson » Sat Jan 20, 2007 9:52 am

It looks like a few threads somehow got deleted during P-51's upgrades to the site. So if you happen to notice a thread missing, it probably is. I've only noticed a couple so far, so i don't think there are very many gone.

The 'who here cheats on scale' thread and the 'tips, techniques, whatever' threads are gone. That's all i've noticed so far.

If it will help us keep the spammers gone, I consider it a small sacrifice. I am sure we will recreate them quickly enough!

One thing I have noticed is that on a longer reply/post, the system may time out and it won't post. I just copied the text, backed out, went back into the thread, hit reply again, and pasted the copied text. It worked fine then.

A couple others I have noticed:
Good trader stories/feedback

And for a minute, I thought we lost the Book of Walton
But I just found it. No clue how I overlooked it!

The threads may be there. We lost global annoucements on the update, so it may have knocked those threads down to normal status.

at least one of the missing threads was just a normal thread. I did a search for it, and while it said 'one match found' the list of matching threads was blank. So if it's around still, it may be invisible, somehow.

Good job guys!
Now we can talk in peace, without dreaming of ripping off various body parts of the spammers

In case you're not following the other thread, Registrations appear to be completely broken.

So if you've been trying to register, hang tight..

If you have been e-mailed by someone that has been trying and failing to register, let them know that it is the site not anything they are doing wrong.

I'll update when the status changes.

Yeah, because most of them were spammers :-P Please don't cause panic when there's no reason to. Plus, I purged ALL users from recently (IE November) who had 0 post counts just to be sure. So if they were not active, had no posts, or had funky signatures... I didn't take ANY chances and removed them.
