bbi P-51 Flap Tip!

I found the bbi P-51's flaps didn't lower like I had hoped. Bbi had used tabs to mount the flaps to the wings. Luckily, you can pull on the flap evenly and it will come off:

Once you pull it off, remove the center tab and re-install the flap. You will now find that the flap lowers just about all of the way. It looks awesome with them down!:

Hope this helps!

Is it just me or is that thing more like a model kit than a pre-fab? I've seen so many posts about how to correct the plane I'm scared if I bought it I wouldn't modify it correctly. People are raving so it is obviously a great piece but it just seems structurally flawed in a lot of ways....

Hardly. The only real flaw I see are the external tanks. I would say that it is the best 1:18 out right now hands down.....

I just need to bite the bullet and order this from BCA. I've still been hoping to find it at TRU

Just go for it! As far as I have seen, checking TRUs in Central and Southern California, none of the new BBI planes have showed up. I'm sure they will eventually, however, bite that bullet and get the plane your call sign denotes!

Actually... there's been two sightings of Mustangs near me... including at one TRU that's not far from where I work.

Wait

I thought there were issues with tail lights or something....maybe not, I can't remember exactly...

On some planes, the wing nav lights are reversed and the tail light on the rudder is missing. Real minor stuff.........

I had to reply to this post because I saw a post from "digger" who said that the BBI Mustang seems flawed in alot of ways? I say to this comment...........WHAT? Digger have you even seen the BBI Mustang up close and personal? As far as 1/18th Mustangs are concerned this Mustang is THE BEST of them all. Theres small things that are wrong with it BUT they are all easily fixable, I only wish I had a digital camera to show you mine and how I corrected those problems. But digger this BBI Mustang is far from flawed in my opinion, its simply the best of the 1/18th scale planes.

Just my two cents

I know

Don't worry or get me wrong, I know this is the consensus...I was just saying I wouldn't trust myself to do even the easiest corrections to a plane... :?

Hey digger. Making corrections on BBI's Mustang is worth the effort trust me. I still have to put on the brake lines and so fourth on mine so I aint even finished yet. I did have two of the BBI Mustang but sold the first one after a crappy paint job on it by me so I bought another one. I didnt paint the wings or anything one my first one because I wanted to see the end result of my paint scheme on the fusalage, YUK is all I can say. So I kept the wings which had all of the new modifications on it and took my new one and replaced the fusalage with "Killer". Talk about stupid for trying to try a new paint scheme on a plane that was already excellently done. Wont happen again I promise.
