Possible P51 prop fix method.

G’day all
Yesterday I intended to be the proud owner of the Eagleston’s P47 that had been sitting at my local but very $$$$ specialist shop, alas to my disappointment someone else had the same idea yesterday and so I missed out, to drown my sorrows I decided to buy a Petie 2nd instead.
Now that I am in the 21stCT P51 club I’m now faced with rectifying the bent prop dilemma that has plagued so many, after some careful thought I think I may have come up with a solution and the following illustration is what I plan to do, that is unless someone else has a better idea or 21stCT is willing to provide a replacement prop.

Nice idea but too late for me. I already fixed my Ridge Runner prop. But its a good idea.

21C will probably send you a replacement prop if you send them a snail-mail or email.
I'd also include a clear, sharp digital pic of the problem part from several angles.
I've dealt with them over QC issues over the years, and from my experience they do listen and respond to their customers!

I agree - nice idea - but 21st has always been very helpful the two times I needed a replacement part - both times I was told they can help if they have the extra parts on hand.

Great idea. I really like 21st's Mustangs, but I wont buy one because I 'm just not cool with potentially breaking part of my $40 investment. So I guess I will wait until I can buy one with a straight prop, so far I haven't run into any.

GREAT IDEA! I think I may just give that a go! On this note however... ALL future mustang schemes will have a retooled prop I believe. At least this was the word from HQ.
Meanwhile I am going to try this method and see how she goes for S1, S2, and S3.

Well.............
Semi marginal acceptable results, as you can see from the following before and after comparison.
The hole diameter should really have been at least to a point of the manufactures logos on the blades for the best results and some caution needs to be taken as the tips of the blades began to bend long before there was any noticeable results at the routes. In fact I will probably have to heat the tips back a little to straighten them out, but it’s 39°C in the house at the moment so no more heat treatments for me this evening.

Wow! Great jury-rigged job there!
Unless I was reeeeaaaaalllllllyyyy splitting hairs, I reckon the hot air application surgery was a success...
If I was still in the military, I'd probably say "Hey...Close enough for government work!"
Onya, mate!
