Well I was half right. Looks pretty good.

Great looking planes! I hope finding both of them won't be a difficult task (knock on wood).

It's a simple scheme but very good looking in person. the slight faded weathering on the production sample looked fantastic. Also the historical significance makes it hard to pass up in my book. I have not heard for sure if WM is going to carry it or not. I suspect that they will however I have a hunch that on-line retailers will have them first. Kind of like the 2 new starfighter schemes.

Very nice choice. Now, will they come with pilot figures and if so, are they the same as previous Warhawks, or will we be seeing new pilots?

Very nice. I wish we could get a P-40E or later Warhawk, especially the N model. But I don't suppose there would enough interest.

George Welch was also an amazing test pilot who broke the sound barrier while diving a F-86 minutes before Yeager went supersonic in level flight at the same research facility. Sadly he died while testing the F-100. Heres the Wiki.

Hey Catman! How are you doing my friend? You are correct but so is the Tomahawk name. In addition there was the use of the early name by the Americans as the Kittyhawk. But I will leave the historic explaination to someone else... perhaps WARHAWKER... Some one chime in and give us some backgorund on the names of the P-40.

I didn't think I'd be buying another P-40 again any time soon, this one is a must . The box art looks cool too.

I wish 21st (or Admiral) would come out with the sleek/slim version of the Warhawk (you aviation guys must kow what version I am talking about).
The old P-40 mold that 21st uses is fat an bulbous and just doesnt look like the P-40s that are the most common. I'll pass on this one. I'm already disappointed in the several versions of this mold that i have now.
But, this re-release is good for those who started this hobby recently.

Smart decision to go with the PH scheme since it is the perfect match for bbi's Zero. Well done! I really like the new F-104 schemes, especially the Tiger meet version. It looks really cool....

WOW! What a great idea. Another home run for 21st. I will be buying both. I have always loved their P-40. Just don’t like the landing gear. Still, I can’t pass these up.

I knew one of you guys would know the correct version of the more known Warhawk. This version that 21st has is the toyish looking of them all and way too fat. You guys that have never seen one in person, dont expect something you saw on "dogfights". I noticed 21st even angled these photo-op pictured as to not show just how plump and irregular they look

Pretty slick, clean version of the P-40. But I like my Flying Tiger of the AVG better! Besides, I don't have anymore room for another fighter plane ... waiting on a B-17, B-25 or an A-10.

Not to nitpick, but the Allison powered P-40's all had pretty much the same cowl.
The Merlin powered P-40F/L had the carb in the chin scoop so no upper scoop.
The P-40N-1 had the earlier canopy (ie P-40E) and the P-40N-5 on had the revised greenhouse.

I would love to have a Merlin Warhawk in 1/18. But any P-40E through P-40N would get me rolling.

My Father-n-law was in the 33rd FG 60th FS during Operation Torch.
You know, the P-40F's that were shot off the USS Chenango.

Someone posted here a comment and I think it could evolve into a neat concept:

Imagine the major guys getting together and creating war era themes, like Pearl Harbor for example.

Have each 1/18 manufacter contribute one plane or planes for the theme, but each one has to be different.

BBi has the Zero, 21C has the P-40, AT could do a ...Val, and then the next round would be 3 different ones, something like that and then move on to the next era's theme.

Whos going to do the Mini Japanese sub?

I wasn't aware that they switched back to a more powerful Allison after the Merlins became needed by the Mustang. That explains going back to the top scoop. I read up on the different variants last night and yeah, I would be happy with an E-N P-40.
