Small Scale Military Headquarters

Hey guys, I hope someone can answer a few questions for me:

1)-I noticed that on both Gallands 109, and White 12, that, besides being painted the same, there is a shield with an "S" in gothic lettering. Did both planes belong to the same squadron? Did Galland and Muncheberg fly together?

2)-Where did the black G9-GV Nightfighter see action? Who was her pilot?

3)-I picked up the Galland, and Nightfighter versions of the Bf-109's at Wal-mart. I thought these were supposed to be BCA, and Toy Federation exclusives. Any info on this?

4)-I know that Galland survived the war, but what about the other pilots of our 1/18 collections? I know it's a lot of pilots to update, but who made it?

1. Yes, both belonged to JG26. Check out the profiles of the planes here:

2. The plane belonged to NG1, Pilot unknown. Profile is in the Profile Album.

3.The Online guys get first shot at just about all paint schemes. Many then go to Walmart thereafter.

4. Some pilots depicted by XD planes were KIA during the war:

Wick
Muncheberg
Leinweber
Hartmann

These come to mind off the top of my head.............

hey flip, where are you located? i'm curious if i need to start hunting wl marts for random bf109s now. i'd love to pick up a galland in southern CA if possible...

If you mean Erich "Bubi" Hartmann... quite the contrary. He survived the war, was taken prisoner and spent something like 10 years in Russian Prison. (released in 1955) He returned to Germany and was very active in the new Luftwaffe. He championed the Luftwaffe obtaining the American F104 Starfighter. He died in 1995 I believe.

Galland lasted until 1996.

The S denotes JG26s honor title of Schlageter in honor of Albert Leo Schlageter.

HAHAHAHA!!! Why did I know somebody was going to ask that? I was refering to Robert Hartmann, the pilot of Jabo!!

Leinweber was the pilot of Peg O'My Heart, also KIA.....

I know they sound all German....
