Hello to one and all, again.

I have said it on previous posts that they were/would be my last requests for a twin engine 1/18 offering, BUT, never say never...here goes:

Fw-189A Das Fliegende Auge (the flying eye)...and is also known as the Uhu, as is the He-219. Two thumbnails included for you ID purposes:

And all I have to say is "very neat", but how about a Mossie, or a P-61, even a Ju-88, or a He-111 if you like the German stuff. The list gets very long on the "how abouts".

or "Be still thy heart"....a B-25

Yes indeed....check out my other "how about" posts of two or so months ago....my number one twin is the He-111. Luftwaffe is a definite passion for me. 8) :!:

Merry Christmas, TTT,

There is a restoration of 189 going on. It was found in Russia sometime ago.

i don't know if any of the big bombers are likely. I just bought a 1/18-ish B-25 and it's massively huge. You can't appreciate it til you see it. Dwarfs the Avenger. It's as long as the F-18 but beefier, with a nearly 4 foot wingspan. I can't imagine the cost (or the weight of the thing in plastic).

The Mosquito i can see for sure....but i would be very surprised if we ever got anything much larger. An A-10 i can see because it would be less complex than making a bomber and it's lean for its dimensions. Much less bulk than a twin engine bomber.

R/C aircraft may be the only option for getting large bomber sized airplanes in this scale.

I agree with Aferg on the bombers. Although unrivaled in the "coolness" factor for 1:18, they would be a pain to produce. I've got 1:72 scale versions of all the aircraft 21c has produced, plus a bunch of others, including medium and heavy bombers. Here's a picture for size comparisons:

We already have a good idea of the size of a 1:18 Avenger and Stuka, so one can see how those planes compare to a Mosquito and B-25. I've thrown in a 1:72 Stuka zu Fuss Hannomag and a 1:72 pilot figure to better emphasize the scale. A B-25 would be pretty large, especially in the wingspan and weight of the plastic. By our standards, it would have to have a full interior and working parts so it would be a highly complex (and expensive toy). A Mosquito is more doable and although it would be larger than the Avenger Stuka or P-38, it is not that much larger to make it unfeasable.

Love that Mosquito, and it's only slightly larger than the Avenger. The B-25 however, is clearly going to be a HUGE 1/18th specimen if it's ever produced

i've also got a 1/18 b-24 r/c kit and a catilina r/c kit. They are both giant. Totally impressive but unimaginable in mass production 1/18 form i think.

The only exception might be a b-17, not that it's smaller but because it would be so popular, so desirable that alot of people would be willing to sacrifice the space and the money for it.

I know most of us would buy a 1/18 b-25, b-24, catalina etc etc but i'm talking about real people here, not us...

The other exception i could see would be a c-47, as it could sort of be made in playset form, with a removable top etc and because it would stimulate large numbers of figure sales to fill it up with troops.

TMTG,

Thankssss, very nice assembly and a great visual for comparison. Good thinking.

Not to advocate changing scales, but all of these aircraft would be great in 1/32nd. In fact, if 21c ever did make them....no, never mind, I would not change over to collecting just 1/32....but a B-17 as big as the 1/18 avenger.....hmm.
