Star Wars Hasbro is giving.................

Post by steelbonnet » Wed Dec 13, 2006 7:00 am

Hey all,

Well just seen these over on rebelscum.com & as soon as I saw this I knew WWII & Modern figures can be made using this as base.

http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?imag ... guard1.jpg

As it is,this is perfect for German customs, rework the collars & add shirt collars & a tie: US,UK Dress. Plus other nations too.

Plus for articulation puroposes, looks to be ball joints:Shoulders,Elbows,Knee`s & feet & possibly head too.

They maybe out shortly though most assuredly they will be out in 2007.

Saw off a bit of the legs, get some giant sunglasses and an Elvis hair-do and you could make a nice Krazy Kim Il Jong figure!

If the heads are placed on ball joints No they won`t be like XD.Though the head if ball joint will be sniper posable ;) I`m presuming & it does look like the helmet comes off too.
So if it`s ball joint heads can be easily adapted to fit or even use other SW heads which have the ball joint neck.

Quixote,
Nice idea on the PLA mate,as said these can be used WWII & Modern :D

Rowsdower,
LOL Yea that you`ll have to make Team America too ;)
Oh yea & some FAGs too LOL

yes it would make a good base for basic militry uniforms. All the german xd's are double breasted, except the officer, which is what i've used in the past. By modifiying collar and pockets would be a good basis for wwi german, us and brits of both wars.

Now if i can just find a source of 1/18 british helmets...
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

I saw this and immediately thought here's the 'generic' battledress I've been hoping for. Now if they only made a variation in (RAF) blue LOL.

Something has to be done about the stance, though, legs look too far apart uless they are ball joints. In any case, shouldn't be too hard a modification. I'll be searching for these on the pegs!

Aferg,
Well I`ll see about making up another small number of helmets just for you then Aferg ;) More in the new year :D

Flayrah,
Yea Must admit Flayrah,RAF Blue would be very nice though nothing stopping you reworking these collars & then painting Blue ;)

As for the legs, yea they are stanced arn`t they, though like anything it hopefully can be adapted :D

Great find steelbonnet! And that looks like a very usable brown leather holster as well - something BBI and 21C seem very hesitant to do, despite their obvious usefulness and feasability. Hasbro SW figs have been experimenting with a lot of the holsters lately and have done a few in their Joe line as well.

It sounds stupid, but working holsters (and/or knife sheaths in some cases), ball joint necks, and ball joint hips are the three things that for me keep most of the new BBI and 21C figs from being "perfect" in technical execution.

Of course we'll endlessly debate about what types (British, WWI, the Vatican's Swiss Guard) should have been made, but I think a few minor adjustments on the execution side of any new figure would bring them near the top of what can be done in 1/18.

I've been watching these figs too. The sculpts are getting much better.
I'm thinking this one has some SS possibilities!

Yea I too am looking forward to Multi buys on the Deathstar figure too.
I can see some WWI customs coming from him, after all the cut of that tunic is based on WWI German uniforms :D

Also have a few other ideas for him too ;)

Though articulated SS Honour Guard certainly would work well with him.

great find! along with marauder john's offerings, this fig could be used for some neat pla army building. ive been thinking of how to crew the type 98s in 1/20 i have and the customed t-72 120....with this body i could also make the pla armoured crew. its a shame there arent any tankers removable headgear available anywhere.. closest i can think of is the horrorshow head from hasbro (got some from the commandocustoms shop, good to go...and i can definately recommend them...great quality.)

its a shame head gear is hard to come by for certain armies. (id love to be able to get russian army helmets, east german helmets, pla headgear and so forth...and most of all, russian style tanker headgear.)

it wold be coo to make a kim jung il fig as suggested, to go with a "hanz brix" fig, as per the film. lol, quality film.

a little off topic here......if anyone is interested in soviet customs, could we make a sticky on a thread in the customs section where people add what stuff they use for different customs of societ equipment (warsaw pact armies, chinese, etc that use soviet weapons) as there is such a shortage of the stuff available?

just as an example, i use the small missiles from the gijoe rolling thunder for the basis of saggers. we could have a thread of such ideas where we can all chime in...

Those figures were expected for later into 2007 but the entire 30th Anni Collection is pushed back due to production issues, so January isn't looking good at this point... Those were Wave 2 though anyway so they weren't expected in January in the first place, but that's neither here nor there...

Anyway, don't expect them in January is what I'm saying. ;)

$7's rough for customizing fodder though... I mean a single XD figure's $5 so SW is increasingly rough to justify to hack up these days, even for me. Helmets are removable on those figures, and both talked about here are SA by Hasbro's style (injection molded ball/sockets galore).

The helmet on the Rebel Honor Guard, for you military buffs, is a piece of WW2 history actually... If you trimmed it down of all the added pieces, it's just an oversized flak helmet (the kind that goes over earphones and stuff). They added a visor, and a "neck extension", as well as a communication pack on the side that should have a little antenna... The more stripped down helmet can be seen in the original Star Wars: A New Hope on the Rebel flight Technicians. They didn't have the visor and the neck guard extension.

Just a little SW trivia... Lots of little militaria mixed into the SW films like MP-44's, Mausers, WW1 British Flare Gun, Sterlings, MG's, etc.

Now Hasbro, make us some Head Sculpt & Endor Uniform variations! The new Rebel Fleet Trooper gets the JJ Seal of Approval Though!
