Hi New member, wanted to get the info out so I joined your forum. I saw on recon today in Bradenton, Fla. A 1/18 R/C Panzer IV with short barreled gun. It is grey in color with weathering. Price was $49.99. Did not buy,was not into R/C stuff.I canot give you any more information.Question for the Club President, do you know if this will be released as a nonR/C model next year?

I am most curious...

I received a shady recon of this myself so there is a more evidence of it's release. My brother in MD said he saw a grey RC tank in 1:18 this weekend at an older WM that in general had (and has) a poor 21C selection. He's not a collector but does recon for me and sounds like this might be appearing now on the East Coast in time for Xmas.
Let's hope they reinforced the road wheels..

No, sometimes things do appear on the East coast first....it is one of Tman's favorite topics. I think the F-86 was first spotted in KY which is pretty far east.

the easiest way to tell the r/c panzer iv is to look at the centers of the road wheels. If they have little black plugs then it's the r/c version.

The custom on ebay just had the barrel cut short, which works for the most part althought not quite 100% correct.

Thanks for the friendly welcome to the forum. To answer the sarcastic posts of some of our adolescent members, I went back and bought the tank. As I stated before, I am not into RC therefore this tank will go to eBay. For those who are interested, the sku number is 087429200811. I am going to try to attach pics to my post for reference. The tank is in a Panzer IV Ausf. H box but the tank looks like an Ausf. F tank. The box states 2005 New Millenium Toys, Ltd., Hong Kong. It's a nice model which has subtle dry brush weathering and does not come with any figures.

Can you check the box? There might be an extension included that you just slip on the end of the barrel. From what I see on the box, the current configuration might support something like that.

nothing has to be supported by the barrel. I don't know what is the purpose of this piece under the barrel but if you check pics of this particular model, it's there. This Panzer IV can take place in the invasion of France and early Barbarossa campaign. I hope we will see more soon.

Well, it has the little antenna plow fixed under the barrel(I guess to keep the antenna from getting in front of the main gun's muzzle). That's definitely new on top of the shorty main gun tube/barrel sleeve. I'm not sure with the differences in the hull might be, but with that particular turret(minus the skirt), it could pass for anything from Ausf A through Ausf F1. It's pretty neat looking, and it would give me another recruit for my DAK unit. I just wish they could have skipped the skirt and put the markings directly on the turret itself.

Well, up to now I've passed on getting any of the rc Panzer IVs, but I may have to get this one.

That new RC Panzer looks pretty good! They patterned the paintscheme after the S1 32x Panzer IV D. It looks as though NMT/21c has simply taken the Panzer IV H mould and only changed the barrel and the paintscheme. I think I'll stick with my RC Panzer IV H, as I like the longer barrel. Nonetheless, its good to see that 21c is releasing new RC vehicles. I guess we'll get an M113 in Viet Nam OD green color and with the tanks removed next

Safe to say it is a shorter gun - they added the piece EM mentioned which would be pointless for the old gun. And if they were to keep the old gun why would they change the mold? The Tiger had the removable barrel to fit in the MW box.

What you see is what you get. The long barreled models (F2 through J)didn't have the antenna deflector mounted beneath the main gun.
