Acrylic 1/18 aircraft display stand
Would anyone be interested in an clear acrylic stand for their 1/18 scale aircraft. I found this site and thought maybe other collectors like myself would be interested. I was bored one day and came up with the idea. I just figured if I thought they looked kinda neat maybe someone else might. Anyway Great site. Thanks

Thanks compliments. The planes are held by either friction, rubber pads, or those 3m clear removable strips. I made these. I haven't seen anything like them. I have seen the ones on ebay and didn't really like them for the price. If I were to make these what would you think they were worth? I could make smaller ones for the for the 1/32 scale and larger ones for the bbi aircraft. I just thought they were neat. I like how the drop tanks and bombs can be left on unlike the ones off ebay. Thanks again

I like the idea, I had thought of using acrylic rods and hanging from the ceiling but these are simpler. I would think the cheaper the better so people can buy multiples or perhaps discounted price for multiple pieces. I really don't know the price of materials and the amount of time put in to make these. Could give a better idea of price if I knew these.

No, I made these. I came across the other stands on ebay. I made these a few months ago when I ran out of ceiling room. My wife and I are getting a new house and I wanted to display my collection in the office/den. The better half didn't think it was a good idea to hang them from the ceiling. I have made two so far and I am perfecting the process. If I made them to sell would anyone be interested? I haven't got a price in mind the acrylic is not cheap, but if I knew there was someone else out there interested I would do it.

As a side note, welcome to the site Bar! Nice to see a Scot join us. I see that you already have the F-16 and F-18, so you already made considerable efforts in collecting 1:18! Anyways, looking forward to your input.Bar wrote:You show this stand holding up an F-16. It must be tremendously strong. What method is used in bonding the upright to the base?

Well here we go. I think these are the specifics you are looking for. Let me know if you think of something else.
I made a couple of these a few months ago. I was on ebay looking for new 21st century items and came across the istands which brought me to this site. I was looking for a way to display my collection in my new house and came up with the stands you see in the photos. I am going to call them Standeez. I like the look and the fact that you can display your planes with the drop tanks and bombs, unlike the istands. I can preconfigure the stands to your specifications. If you want your plane to bank you got it, if you want it to climb you got it. The planes are held in place by balance and the assistance of 3m removable mounting squares. The ones I have made are 9" tall on a 6" base. I am sure I call increase that. I hand make these so if was interested it would take me a week or so to get it done.
If there is any other questions let me know. I just want to state that these are handmade and not 100% perfect. With that mentioned I wouldn't sell something that I wouldn't be happy with.
Thanks - Nathan

6 pack for $66.00 shipped within the continental 48 United States.
Ex: If you buy just one its $17.00 + 5.00 sh. If you buy two its $17.00 + 5.00sh + $14.00 + 1.50sh and so on. Sorry I made it so confusing.
If any one has questions please let me know. Are the prices too high too low? I hand make each one at this point. If the demand was enough I would certainly look into mass producing them. I had thought about making smaller versions for the 1/32 scale aircraft as well. I am on the ground floor on this and open to any suggestions
Go for it....you have a winner; hope all works out VERY well for you!!
