The above 1/18 airplane is on pre-order status at several sites: is this "one that should be in a collection"? I missed the F-16 on first go around, mainly because I really was not "into" modern jets, BUT, if the popular opinion of the board members who already have this offering warrents, I will get one. BTW, I started changing my mind regarding jets when the F-104 Marineflieger came out. Of coarse I could be really swayed with an F4 Phantom, F14 Tomcat, and an A10 Warthog!
Thanks for any input from all of you,
dV

No question here, GET ONE!!! It's an awesome model and you won't be disappointed. Let's hope we see an A-10 and more from bbi like the F-16 and F-18.
Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!
Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

I concur, get one, its a great plane and has a lot of potential, depending on what you want to do with it. The plane has quite an interesting set up:
You have an F-16C Block 30 (I believe) with an NSI Intake and General Electric style Engine Nozzle. The Weapons, while a tad chunky and with the addition of the Sparrow makes it an Air Defense Fighter [ADF] set up. The Air Defense Fighter is no longer in use as the cold-war mission to knock down cruise missiles and strategic bombers was phased out and it was the only U.S. version to have Sparrow firing capability. I believe the missiles are referred to as "AMRAAMS" in the description. It's very clean looking and looks very nice on a shelf or atop a large TV. The tinted glass cockpit looks pretty cool. Where else can you find something this big? 1/32 scale looks tiny in comparison! Definitely finagle some cash out of your Defense Budget for one! I think I'll be allocating some $$ from my FY2007 for another.

The BBI F-16 is awesome and well worth the price! I hung mine up shortly after I got it in late 2004, and have never rotated it through! Here's a couple of pictures - they were taken for other purposes, but should give you an idea of the size and "cool" factor the plane presents
The plane has a lot of nice paint details, etc. that are not present on the BBI F-18 (though that plane is itself a great model) and captures the look of a real F-16 quite well!

Wow, these are excellent reports.......sold, I'll just have to take the proverbial plunge into the Modern Jet Pool.
Sincere thanks for the reports to one and all,

Really impressive model though I'm only interested in WWII era toys.
